possible geo velocity problem.

Hey guys, let me just first saying that i read all the other related threads and tried all of your solutions to the best of my ability.

Im was having problems getting my geo shooting up to 290 fps, dwell at 12.5 with the reg opened up all the way. when i had a pressure tester handy i tested the reg to 150 psi to get 280 fps. at this time i had the stock bolt system.........

now i just recently installed the ST kit and bumped the dwell up to 14.5 hoping that it might help solve this issue as one of its many benifits. however i still need the reg completely turned out to attain 280-290 fps. this just doesn't seem totally right to me. my consistency atm is pretty bad but i barely have a case through it with the ST kit so im assuming it just needs to break in more.

Im using a crossfire HP 68/4500, and im using the shaft .689 bore.

The only o-ring that isn't new is the HPR o-ring(considering i just put a new st kit in it) but i figured since im not getting any noticeable drop off and according to the reg tester it was outputing 150psi that it was not the problem.

the ball in the noid seems to be in good shape, no visible damage....but i can get my hands on a micrometer if necessary.

i've tried backing off the knob on the asa but that didn't change anything.

I tried multiple batteries.

I followed the lube instructions properly. but on a side note it is pretty cold here but im coming from a warm house to shooting it out a window to crono so idk if outside temp would really factor in.

not sure if im forgetting anything but if it comes up i will let you know. any help would be greatly appreciated guys. thank you.

I'm not an internal Geo expert, but I can ask this.

What is the output pressure of your crossfire tank? I.E. have your shop hook it up to a pressure tester. If it's LP or even 600 or below psi, that could be your issue, Geo's were designed for high pressure input.

Oversized pin hole on the can?

Do you have the VVC screw all in, or all out?

Possibly over greasing? The geo really doesn't need a much grease, and too much can effect the cycle.

the pin hole appears to be fine, both with the stock engine and the ST kit

VVC screw all the way out. if i put it in it drops the fps a decent amount

i greased it as much as the video that jack posted, i could maybe try to grease it even less but idk how good of an idea that is.

the gun shoots so good, im so happy i picked it up. i just can't understand why it struggles to attain higher fps.

the serial number is 00037, which im assuming means its one of the original ones. could that mean there is some wear in the pack in the noid or something considering its age? i took the noid apart and it appears fine but idk.

sent the gun into eclipse for Gerry to look at and it shot good for him, he still went through it and checked everything out nonetheless. i got it back today and its still shooting wicked low with both my high pressure crossfire tanks. at this point i have to assume that there is something going on with my air tanks or my GEO doesn't like them lol. im going to try some other tanks soon and possibly get the low pressure spring if all else fails. weird this is that the tanks work on my ego, and they are indeed High pressure output tanks....

i just wanna give a big thanks to Eclipse, Gerry and Nicky for helping me out and getting it back to me so fast, at this point im sure that it is my crossfire tanks and i will fix that very soon. im just glad to have them look at it and make sure everything is good with the gun. eclipse has by far the best customer service i have ever dealt with, Gerry stayed in constant communication and even tuned the gun and set my trigger up. im sure it will rip once i figure out what is going on with my air system. Thanks again!

im going to be doing that this weekend. i figured that wasn't the problem because i used both of my high pressure tanks with the same results.

Gerry and Nicky ARE both the man!

If your reg tester goes up to 1000 psi you could test the output of your tanks by hooking the gage up to the asa and see what you're at. Take a few shots with it hooked up to test the recharge too...have found a number of my guy's tanks had significant problems in their tank regs that were causing velocity problems...without actually hooking the reg up to a gage they would have never found the problem.

i tried it with a ninja tank/reg today and it seemed to improve it alil. the paint was absolute ****(bronze in 40 degree weather) so im going to try it with reballs soon so i can get more accurate numbers over the crono.

team capital offense: what kind of tanks have you founds problems?

I am having this problem as well... Hooked up the Geo's reg to a pressure tester and it doesnt want to go any higher then 140psi for some reason (Using a Ninja Tank).

So until i can figure out whats going on I have the hyper 3 reg on the Geo.

well i tested the ninja today vs my crossfire and it definitely is better but unfortunately not too much better. im going to give the LP spring a try and see what that does. im assuming i want to completely shut off my reg and raise it slowly as i have no idea what these tank are really outputting correct?

on a side not: i did try using a cp reg off another one of my guns on the geo and it worked like a charm, i was easily able to raise the velocity.

ok I checked a pmi tank once, it was supposed to provide 400 psi but the reg was giving just 200 psi... my friend's DM was not working right with it... I say check the actual output pressure, it might not be the pressure they say it is.

I wouldn't suggest screwing the adjuster in all the way, as this can lead to damaging the reg seat seal on the tip of the reg piston neck, and you would then need a new reg piston. Screw the adjuster in to reduce the output pressure, but not all the way in.

I had this issue with my Ninja with no shims. I replaced the shims and was able to achieve 290. Why doesnt PE ship these guns with spring that can work on HP or LP?

I'm guessing because if people had the LP spring to hand without knowing what it was for, it would only be a matter of time before someone installed the LP spring, gassed up their marker with an HP output tank, and then proceeded to ruin their solenoid (and would no doubt expect PE to replace the solenoid).
