It can very much affect the rate of fire, because it directly controls cycling rate.
If you have a solenoid that actuates slower, then it will take longer to move the ram forward, and to move it back (the ram will be slower in moving). If you have a solenoid that requires a higher dwell to function properly (like one of the Humphrey's that require 16ms of dwell time), then that is more time that the ram has to sit foward, meaning the total cycling time is greater.
Not all stock solenoids are created the same. If you get one that has a weaker coil, then it will actuate slower. This is also part of the reason why some people can run Kuroda solenoids perfectly at 6ms, while other have to use 10ms. Slower solenoids mean longer cycling times, which means reduced cycling rates.
There was a couple of other posts about differences in the actuation speed of the solenoids, and Jim @ WAS mentioned this also. I beleive it was under the Equalizer v3.0 thread he mentioned this, as v3.0 is supposed to be able to take this kind of cycling fluctuation due to solenoid into account.
Yeah... My timmy I bought has SOB, and resets with a dwell of 2ms. Is this bad for the noid? When I put it up to like... 6ms, it gets mad full auto sometimes, which I dislike(could be bounce).
It was an issue with the WAS board... the newest version (2.7) doesn't allow a dwell of 2. I forget what, exactly, the new low-end of the dwell is, but I believe it's 6ms.
Greetings,
Are you sure you are not confusing debounce and dwell settings?
Yes, there are two different solenoids out there for Timmys that require different dwell settings.
Even different noids from the same manufacturer will function better(or worse) at different dwell settings.
That's where spending the time to ACTUALLY TUNE your unique setup will pay off in the long run and will send some folks bashing on their marker BECAUSE THEY DID NOT OR COULD NOT properly set up their marker for their combination of parts.

are the black/black (humphry?) noids faster than then green/black (koruda?) ones. and are there other noids that will work besides the ones that are commonly used?
