Smile Demon Issues...

Hey guys, I just picked up a used 2013. I knew when buying it there may be issues. Here are two things I encountered. I need some help troubleshooting.

1. I aired it up and there were no leaks. Great! Right? No....at the chrono the marker would not cycle/fire.

2. I decide to break down the reg to check the o rings. Put it back together and now air blows right through.

LOL! so please any suggestions would be great on both. I have a oring rebuilt kit so maybe thats a start.

When lubing did you put a lot of lube on your shuttle orings? if so that is a place where you want a VERY light coat. Also check the bolt guide rings and make sure that oring down the shaft is a true 806 and if you take your bolt put your finger on the tip of the bolt to see if there is pressure. If what I just said does not make watch this!

Yep, Mayhem. Ok so I found a broken o-ring on the velocity adjustment screw. Solved the problem of air running straight through the regulator.

Now I am getting a leak towards the top grip frame. Still no cycle. I have replaced all orings.

Was it one of the many a guy is selling on here for about $300? The Mayhems?
I bought one off of facebook (Same guy I assume).
It was fine at first and now I am having a leak from behind the screw that nothing I've done has fixed... All replaced o-rings on bolt engine, reg, and transfer tube. It fires, but that leak will not leave me alone. Even the techs have run of of ideas on helping me. Basically a $300 paperweight at this point but my 2013'd works perfectly fine.

Also to the OP, is it tough to get your bolt engine out? Mine is pretty difficult to take out and put back in compared to the 2 other Demons I've owned (True 2013 and 2013'd). Not sure if it has anything to do with the leak but I've cut 2 outer o-rings on it now getting it out. Pretty annoying and it seems it's only the Mayhem versions. Subbing to this thread for later use.

I'd say yes, compared to other spools ive owned (clone,geo). Im sure it came from the same person. At least yours will fire...

Damn I'm sorry man... If it makes you feel any better the leak is bad enough to not get through an entire match... The leak on yours is coming from behind the trigger as well? If I am able to fix it with knowing what the issue is I'll be sure to let you know.

Its not biggie...I expected the worst. But it would make for a great back up marker if I get it going. Yes, at least the leak seems that way.

Ok so Im making more progress. I found a random 1x22 on the inside of the threadings where the can screws into..

Unfortunately the leak is still near the top/behind trigger and the gun fired on its own....twice..

Yeah I hate those metric o-rings... Especially when I'm short on them >_<
As far as it not shooting, is the trigger hitting the microswitch? Without any air and eyes off can you hear the noid clicking?

One of the things a tech had me do was replace the o-rings on the transfer tube on the inside of the gun. Have you done this? It's a small cylinder that you can pull out of the body and it has 2, 008 o-rings on it. It didn't work for me but give it a shot if you haven't already.

Might help to check that you guys dont have a high spot where there are air ports in the body a little file will knock them down. Poor qc is to thank for this.

Alright guys so Ive tried everything!!!! I am no stranger to teching spoolies...Ive owned a Clone and currently a Geo but this damn Demon is frustrating!

So far I have swapped ALL o-rings except those on the manifold. Ive performed all recommendations on the shuttle valve orings. With lots of lube without lots of lube. There is still a leak coming from the top grip frame area and the marker will not fire when the trigger is pulled.

Im starting to think the reason why the marker will not cycle is because of a faulty board. It fired twice last time 1-2 seconds after I pulled the trigger almost like it did it on its own. I haven't been able to replicate.

Im still unsure of the leak..... Does anyone have any other ideas besides the typical solutions?? Thanks to all that are helping.

I just read this...I did notice a high spot where the reg screws into and somewhere under the grip frame or under the manifold. Ill file them down tomorrow evening

I filed down the two high spots with no results....I also wanted to mention that after I take the tank off I still hear the "leak" for about 5-10 secs then the marker purges out the asa.

Back to the drawing boards...

maybe bad noid? Manifold oring? shoot man I bought one as well leaking and my issue was 2 things. To much lube on the shuttle can cause the shuttle to stick open. The other was the 806 oring I spoke of before. Did you say you had a rebuild kit?

The sharp edges I was talking about are inside the gun near where the back cap screws in and is infamous for tearing up your bolt or orings.
