Had a fight with a opossum last weekend. Shot it with 3 shells from a .410 before it was done. First shot was in the rear hip and blew his hide all up in the air with a big whole in him. Second blew half his face off and he was still breathing but barely.

Picked up a new Savage Axis 223. w/ the crappy Bushnell scope it comes with. Looking forward to using it for coyote this year.

I want to take an elk so bad. I have elk fever and I've never even seen one.

Looking to join a club in the Spring for hogs primarily. I may dabble into a deer later, doubtful though.

$600 for the year, 450 acres. Kinda meh, but driving down to South GA where all the land is would be detrimental to the bank account every time I wanted to go hunt. This place is much closer to the city.

Need an optic and a 5rd mag for legal hunting

If you can get in good with a farmer and don't trash his land most of then will pay you between 10 and 20 dollars per head for yotes here. Bonus points because if they like you you can hunt rabbits in the winter.

Add that on to about $30. A pelt and $50 per coyote can add up fast. If I didn't have loans and crap to pay I would totally make it my full time job

What are your guys opinions on 6.8 SPCII for hunting mainly deer? It has nice ballistics and ranges in bullet weight. There are some nice 6.8 uppers, but the round isn't well known, thus making it rather expensive. It ranges from $.60-1 a round.

.300blk is a better cartridge for deer from my understanding.

6.8 and .300 AAC Blackout have similar characteristics to some point other then weight of the billet. .300 blackout is 7.62x35mm. It is a 5.56 reformed cartridge with a larger bullet. That's the simplest way to put it. It's crazy expensive to reload and to buy. Minds as well use 7.62x39mm as it will be 1/5th the cost for ammo.

There are feeding and stabilizing issues the .300 also.

Depends on where you are in the country, but the best rounds for shooting deer are typically .270 and bigger. 30-06 is the primary round my friends hunt with.

Some shoot .300 win mag just because its super flat for long bean field hunts.

Currently, I use .270. I've been huge into C&R firearms and am fascinated by Mosin Nagants. PPU makes a 180 grain round. That may be an alternate, but the safety on those are rather "dated". Until I can get a timney trigger with a true safety, I'll stick to a safer rifle. Rather practice safe hunting then risk it.

Looking for some coyote hunting tips. Iv'e done a ton of research. My friend and I are planning on going out next week.

Im going to dump some $$$ into a decent electronic call. Thinking either the FoxPro Spitfire or Wildfire. Im not spending 4-500 on one. The Spitfire is about 130 and the Wildfire is 200. Big difference is the wildfire you can download other sounds and it will hold up to 200 sounds. Kind of leaning more towards that because I figure I can put some Turkey calls on there and use it for Turkey hunting as well.

As far as placement, where should I place the caller from where im sitting? Same for the decoy. I see you can get those mojo critters that connect right to the caller, or theres one that go into the ground. Not sure what to go with. Theres so much different stuff out there, seems a bit overwhelming...

Just set it about 25 yards in front of you. I'd put the call and decoy at the same spot.
