Anyone good IT guys in here?

This issue is even stumping me. My brand new logitech mouse won't work at all on my mouse pad, it will scroll just fine on my black table top but won't even scroll or back click when placed on the pad. From the way the scroll wheel stops working when placed on my mouse pad, it looks like the laser isn't recognizing what it's seeing and it's shutting it's self down.

Im no it guy but from the way it looks the surface of the mouse pad is porous and chances are the laser doesn't get a solid reading. try the mouse on some carpet to see if the same thing happens. If no it could be the material that the mouse pad is made of... some how blocking the rf signal to the tower.

I have the same mouse. The problem is purely based on the surface. Some surfaces just don't sit well with the mouse. Material, pattern, and reflectivity all affect how well it reads. Just because it's a "gaming" mouse pad doesn't mean it's the best pad for every mouse.

it's so weird, it works perfect with my MX510 mouse, but it's optical whereas this one is laser. Well boo.

What's REALLY confusing is how it won't scroll or click while on the pad.

sometimes if the mouse is turned over, just like a turtle, it will become incapacitated. Even through the mouse is not getting flipped over chances are it doesn't know the difference between the eye looking up into ambient air or an incompatible mouse pad.

yup...incompatible mouse pad. im probably wrong, but those porous gaming mouse pads i believe are for gaming mice that use a ball. back when laser/optical mice came out, you couldnt really get one that had really high DPI (isn't really a problem nowadays) for FPS's.

not really sure what this has to do with information technology though.

He's planning on using the mouse to access specific data cached by an olap server?

You had to make a video and post all that to realize something so basic? Are you bored?

I'm in IT, I'm not a gamer (anymore). The same pad works fine on my optical mouse. I just didn't know there was that big of difference in optical and laser mice.
