I just recently found out that one of my best friends (and the best man at my wedding) was in fact a witness. I had no idea in the 10+ years i had known him that he was a witness.

On top of that, a lady I work with told me that she was raised in the witness faith. She is approaching 40 yrs old (She'd kill me if if I told you, so dont tell her ) and she is utterly and totally disgusted with the entire thing. Her mother actually has not contacted/spoken to her in over 7 years because she left the faith, and her family is still very much into being witnesses. She talked for a good 20 min about how she wasnt allowed to date outside the religion, she couldnt celebrate holidays, she was constantly told that her life in general was to be put on hold for recrument drives...it sounded horrible.

I guess the point of this rant is that I find it interesting that one person could be so negative and another could lead (what I would call) a normal, everyday life. I suppose there are different degrees/faiths within the witness religion.

I guess so, that guy you knew might have been non practicing.

The 2nd story is textbook Jahova's witness, they control your life so you don't know anyone outside it, than if you screw up you get shunned and since the only people you know are in the faith and they won't talk to you any more people wind up going back to it as it is all they have.

Her MOTHER is refusing to talk to her for 7 years now because she is being "disfellowed" by a damn cult and its not the only story like that I have heard.

A witness I know had a sister who got shunned for dating someone outside the faith or something like that, she had to go to the elders to ask for permission to attend her brothers weeding, since she had been trying to get in good standing again they gave her the *Privilege* to attend it, but not allow her to talk to anyone there. Did not matter though, her brother did not want her there because he did not want to be associated with her at all.

A "NO TRESPASSING" Sign fixes both problems

The Jehovah don't come any more though because when my father broke his wrist a few years ago (Pins/Screws/Plates/Fixator the whole deal) he had just got comfortable and then Ding-Dong. Which resulted in an unusually hostile response.

In my experience that's more of a geographical thing than an issue of the tenacity of the door-knocking. My last house was near a Mormon church, and we got mostly Mormons. New house is within 2 miles of a Witness hall, and we get all Witnesses. No Mormons so far in almost a year.

My house is incredibly close to a Witness Hall. Actually, me and some friends used to play airsoft in the Jehova's Witness's Hall when we were younger. There is also a Mormon Church right down the street from me.

I wonder if they go door to door in Texas...Because in a state where it is legal to shoot people on your property, not saying they would get shot, but I am sure people like myself would adequately terrorize them knowing they wont go to jail for it.

EG: -Greeting the door shotgun barrel first
-Opening door with ski-mask and starting a chain saw.
-Calling the dog(dog not recquired)
