Getting back into PB...need some Angel advice!
Hey guys
To start off with, this year I hope to be slowly getting back into the sport and buying up a ton of gear(or what I can afford) and I have a few angel questions. I played PB for 7 years and 5 of those years I owned quite a few Angels but being out of the game for close to 4 years now I don't really know what is what when it comes to the new guns.
The last model I owned before I got out was a 05 Speed, now I see the G7s and A1s and dont know much about them at all, I havent even held a marker in 4 years and I know technology has changed a lot when it comes to paintball and what not. So my first question is, whats the best gun for the buck if I'm buying it used? I really would like to find a package deal between $400-$500 used with a tank and hopper. My second question is, how outdated would an 05 speed be compared to a G7? I'm not too worried about having the best of the best and the newest thing out there due to my financial situation but I do want something fast, efficent, and just overall a good clean shooting gun.
Sorry if I sound like a newb but I pretty much am all over again for the most part lol so hopefully some of you guys will take pitty on me and help a brotha out. Thanks! -Eddie

If you went back to an 05 Speed I don't think you'd be horribly outdated. As long as you can set it to 10-12 bps semi you should be good. I would suggest heading over to the angelowners.com and looking in the BST section over there. You'll have to sort through a lot more BS on here were as they have a sub-forum set up for each model of Angel in the BST.

depends on what you mean by "outdated". LCDs from 1999 were already capable of 25bps. newer angels just means lower pressure, better efficiency/flow, less weight, different milling.

I just got back in after a long hiatus as well, and I always used to shoot Angels. I bounced between a few guns, I've settled on an A1. I still can't believe that these guns can be had so cheap and more people aren't shooting them. Amazing guns can be found for $300 and sometimes less, and it's the most comfortable gun I've ever held and shoots great. I can't wait to get it tuned up and magno'd. A quick trip through the BST or over on AOG should get you exactly what you need.

I am a long time pump player and just started playing semi again in 09. I shot the Speed 05 when it came out and LOVED it.
I just bought my LCD 3 days ago and I am new to angels pretty much, but the Speed 05 is a sweet marker.

You really can't go wrong with any Angel but personally I'd stick with an A4Fly or newer. Anything from then on will be low pressure and have eyes and chances are the battery won't have died yet.

Is 12bps the max ROF now? I'm in the same boat as the OP, when I left the sport('05) we were doing ramping to 15bps at PSP events.

12.5 is the max for psp this year. who knows what it'll be next year. your field may do semi only or have a ramping cap. ask them.
