Interesting problem

Here's my issue.

I time in the recock sans paint. Rips.
Pour some paint into it. 3-10 ball strings...stops recocking.

I scratch my head.

Pour paint out, rail on the trigger again sans paint. Rips.

I scratch my head again.

Basically, when shooting paint I have to jack the recock to the point of breaking cheap paint in order to have it consistantly recock. Works fine with just air tho.

Ideas?

With paint in the gun you have higher recock pressure (because there's roughly 4 times the blow back pressure), try turning down the pressure on your Detonator and see if that helps.

Ya it's chrono'd in to 295fps.

And turning down the reg would only result in lower shot speed, I'd still have to readjust the recock to time in with the new reg pressure.

Look for parts of a partialy shredded bumper in the body somewhere slowing you bolt and hammer down. Also make sure the bolt is not swelled by pulling the back block back and letting it come forward. If it does this on it's own and with little resistance swelling and shredded bumper is not your problem. If it doesn't look for the friction and eliminate it.

Maybe you should check if your internals are aligned correctly. If you can get it as straight as possible, it will make the gun cycle smoother.

Yes, and check your sear catching plate, is it tight?

Hammer plate.

Yes, I'd check that ... Mine was cracked out of the box and it took several games before it actually fell apart.

The seer plate is tight....I broke 2 of them before I got one to sit good and snug.

I completely stripped the gun down, cleaned the hells out of everything, ran everything thru a buffing wheel, straightened and aligned everything. Works better now, but is still not totally reliable when running paint.

I'm thinking that I might turn the manual velocity up a bit, and then adjust the reg to compensate. Basically, it's post tournament season for me right now, I have 3 months till the next...I have time to tinker.
