in theory any sniper will pretty much perform the same, whether its a $150 sniper out of the BST forum, a $400 sanchez marker, or a $600 ccm marker. they all shoot, you have to pump them.
I put mine through hell and back and never had a problem.
the SM1 is great especially for the price, plus if you prefer the look of the milling then its the right marker for you.
sounds like you found a good deal.
i would not buy an sm-1 now. prices will drop when the "new" sm-1 comes out which should be soon. furthermore a lot of the old sm-1s have poor barrel threading. so you may get a soon to be obsolete sm-1 with a messed up barrel threading if you buy now. wait 2 months, get the second generation sm-1, and hope it does not show up with a new gun defect, that is what i am planning on doing. consider getting the CIP pump for 179 dollars.
it is not as good a gun but it will hold on to it's value better when it comes to resale time. use it until the new sm-1 is freely available, then sell easily the CIP used for 125 dollars, and buy the new sm-1. GL!
