Barrel Adaptor? Defiant wont take Cocker barrels.

This may be a dumb question, but I got a Defiant 1 (not 2) half a year ago and thought they had cocker threaded barrels. Whenever I tried to put a cocker barrel in the gun, it wouldnt go in. But the stock Defiant Barrel goes into other cocker threaded guns.

My buddy just got a Defiant today, and no barrel has a problem.

I looked inside the bolt stack and there seems to be a tube that extends out towards the threads and is hollow around it. Lookin at the barrel it has part of the barrel milled out to accomodate that tube. So my question is, does it sound like I for some reason have some kind of insert in there that makes (maybe) ICD barrels fit correctly?

Anyone heard of Defiants coming like that?

The inner circle is the tube that sticks out, the outer circle is a reference to where the threading is. The black space in between the circles is where the barrel slides into.

As you can see, the barrel has an indentation that allows for that tube to fit inside this barrel making a smooth ride for the ball to flow through.

Pardon the crudeness of this, hopefully it helps make sense.

I'll get a pic when I get home tonight. I dont have a way of getting at it really, its to small for need nose pliers to get under. Plus I dont want to risk damaging it if its something needed.

I cant see crud except a few red circles. No defiants never came like that - all were cocker thread and we cant see from the pictures what your talking about. If you dont want to take what ever your saying is in there out, then you have one choice find a barrel that fits!

Made a terrible drawing so maybe it helps paint the picture. I would love to remove it BTW, but I have no idea what it is, or if its even removeable (I have tried with no success). I want to know what the heck that thing is! I cant get a grip on it to try and unscrew it or pull it out, feels pretty solid to the body.

measuring my Deffy, there is 1.25" of clearance from the front of the body to the step up at the bolt. If you have less than that, somebody has dropped an insert in there. I have no clue what it's function might be. You should be able to look down the feedneck with the bolt removed and see that step. Is there a joint there, or something forward of that step? If so, I would take a tapered wooden dowel and snugly insert it in the front of the marker and see if you can twist it free. Don't drive it in there, you might flare whatever it is and make it impossible to remove.

Note: Try some slightly off angle pics without the circles.

I will be trying to get some better pics today since its daytime now.

Sounds like your hitting the nail on the head, but looking down the feedneck I can only see the bolt guide tube. Putting my finger in there (yeah get your giggling done ) it does not feel flush like it shouldnt be there. The wooden dowell sounds like a idea and I will need to pick some up.

Thanks for the info so far.

What kind of barrel is that? Could it be some sort of a bore sizer that just got stuck in the body? Thats what it looks like to me! I would be getting that out, one way or another. Like a soft wood dowel from the back and just a tap to see?

I dont have clue what kind of barrel this is, I for some reason thought a stock defiant came with a 2 peice barrel like this. Its possible this could be some kind of J&J barrel maybe, its made of ceramic.

Im beginning to think your right, that its an insert. When I got the gun it was pretty gunky and this thing could be stuck. I put a couple drops of rubbing alchohol in there to see if it breaks up any gunk and will try to get it out tonight.
