and for the OP if you can get your hands on both types to test out, do it before you buy.
Thanks.

I saw them new online at I&I sports for $119 in pump trim, minus a vert reg.

Yeah, money is sort of an issue beause i'm 15 and have no job :/. I don't really know what class to go for..probably stock because I believe the whole point of pump is for challenge.

If money is an issue I recomend saving like 100 bucks. Get a trilogy for 60 or buy one off the nation for cheaper. Then go get a 30 or 40 dollar pump kit. Boom. Or you can just keep your eyes on the bst thread for a trilly. (I've seen them for 80 with a pump kit already on) either way after that you'll have a pump and as you slowly gain some money buy a part here or there.

on top of that you just have to have a gravity feed or whatever hopper pleases you. Same with the tank

or you can get a trracer for $40, stock class feed for $20, and run direct air, or a bucket changer for twelve grams and a stock, and you got a fun as hell stock class gun

Having played with one off and on for two years, there's really no comparison between using a traccer, or any normal pump with a stickfeed, and a true stock-class gun like a Phantom or PGP.

Unless you're fully committed to taking a hacksaw to a gun and removing the feedtube and attaching a proper horizontal feed, you need to buy a real stock class gun to have the proper stock-class experience.

That's just my $0.02 though.

And Traccers are still great guns, regardless.

yes, i know that. but if he wants to get into stock class on a budget, that seems to be pretty good. but you can find phantoms for around 150 vsc maybe lower, idk, im not into phantoms

There was a used pump gun I saw at my local field last time I went. I'm going tomorow again so i'll check it out. I think it was a converted autococker..i'm not so sure though.

I will jump in and suggest the SL-68II. I got one not too long ago and I love it. It's easy to maintain, and it's practically bullet proof. The only issue I've run into is roll-outs, because there's not a detent. Also, barrels are difficult to find (not that the stock is bad, it's actually quite good.) It also has Auto-trigger which can be handy if you get caught in a tough spot.

As to the difficultly part, playing with a pump of any kind against quality players who are using semi-auto is challenging. Trust me, no matter which kind of set-up you use, you'll find the challenge you're looking for.

Hope it helps,
-Alex

BY FAR the best bang for your buck is here: http://www.paintballgateway.com/chitprgu.html

To start at 180 for one of the smoothest shooting and pumping pumps out there is mind blowing. Even if you do stick with stock class, check out this attachment from the same guys: http://www.paintballgateway.com/wgppugun13ro1.html

Again, some leagues run their rules differently, so you'll have to check the rules, and decide what you'll be doing.

New to pump. Just bought a Check-It Classic Pump for $170. Also picked up a 12" Deadly Wind barrel for it and can't be happier.

I always tell this to new people. In my opinion, I think new players should start off with an Open class marker. Look around for a cheap autococker.

From there, if you want, you can move to Stock class and look for a phantom or something. Just my 2 cents.

I dont know if anybody has already mentioned but if you can get you hands on an old psychoballistics lightning and put a pmp pump kit on it. Then you add your cp asa and reg and its a very nice little pump gun for under 2 dollars.
check out my review of the pump gun at the link below
