But you didn't.

You bought someone else's place in the list of teams with first dibs on spots in the 2010 season.

AXBL never promised to continue to operate the league. They never sold anyone any ownership in the league. All they did was say they would pick the teams that got to play the next season based on the team's participation and performance in the previous season, AND allow that to be transfered.

So you bought the same rights the previous owner had. But the previous owner never had any promise that the league would run a 2010 season, and you don't suddenly get that right as a result of your purchase with them.

Let's put this as an extreme example - if you paid $100,000 for the place in line, would you expect the league to reimburse you $100,000?

Or put another way - what if AXBL had folded before the spot was sold to you? All they would be liable to the previous owner for would be the deposit if it had been paid. The transfer of ownership doesn't suddenly create more liability for AXBL.

You can keep trying to convince yourself that you bought a piece of a league or something, but you didn't. You just bought a place in line. When you paid that money, you failed to get a guarantee from the person who sold you that spot that you would get to use it or get your money back. Unfortunately for you, you bought the spot just before it became worthless. Bad timing for sure, but that's a risk you take when you buy something.

what your saying makes sense, but think of it this way, someone somewhere paid the league at some point in time for this team and the payment has just been passed from owner to owner. The league recieved money at some point for the team and all it has been is tranfering that payment from owner to owner. and from a leagal stand point, according to the lawyer ive been speaking to, when the league released the event dates and locations, that is a binding agreement that they released stating that the league would be held and run this season, if they did not release the dates that would be different, but they did so....

No. Someone paid the league their franchise fee for the year and it paid for the team for that year. Every year you pay for franchise fee to use the spot for that season.

correct there, but how does that prove they are resposnible for what you purchased the spot in a private sale for? im sorry, but i really just dont see how people think that the axbl is responsible for what you purchased from a third party. the money that went to the league will be coming back to the registered team owners. the moneys that went to a third party to buy the right to the spot is gone.
only money from a third party you will see back from the league will be the deposit if :
1) "i" pay the deposit for my spot
2) "i" then sell "you" my spot for 2500
3) "we" fill out the proper transfer paperwork with the league
4)"you" email louie about getting deposit back (2000)
----------------------------------------------------------
"i" am up 500 from the sale of my spot to "you"
"you" got the 2000 league deposit back and are out the 500 you paid "me" that was tacked on above the 2000 deposit to the league.

or if i sold you the right before i made my deposit, all paper work done and you paid the deposit to the league.

in short, if you bought a spot with the deposit paid, you will get the amount of the deposit back from the league.not what you paid the previous owner.

To put it another way...

- Say I buy a World of Warcraft account from someone on eBay for $500

- The account comes up for subscription renewal, I pay the yearly/monthly/whatever subscription fee

- A week later WOW is discontinued

- My subscription fee is refunded by the company that makes it

They are not liable to reimburse me for the $500 I paid on eBay for the account.

^^^^^ yes, precisely. idk how else anyone can say it or explain it any better. the odds of you seeing any money you paid to a third party are non-existant. it does suck, but the truth hurts

isn't the lawyer going to charge you money also if you decide to go down that road? so what you end up getting back will just go to the lawyer most likely.

Hi. I lost that much. Am I upset? Sure. But, I'm also realistic. I paid that money to the previous owner to buy the spot from him. It is not his fault that the league collapsed. It's not the league's fault that I gave him that money for the spot. I'm cutting my losses and moving on.

Im not saying youll get your money back. I see both sides arguments, and Im not a lawyer hence why Ive stayed out of it. But that guy was a straight up *** and talked about something he had nothing to do with.

Im not mad, upset, or indifferent. I could care less if I ever see a penny, thats not why I bought the team, but if people have the time and desire for to fight for whats right then it deserves to be discussed.

well if you want to get technical when you pay for a franchise you own it forever what the axbl does is rent you a spot because if you bought that franchise you own it but they still charge you every year there for not making it a franchise.
for example if i bought Dallas cowboys which is a nfl franchise you own the team you dont pay every year to own that team after you bought it.
