Ion XE Conversion kit
I know this may seem like a noob question...
I recently bought a used Ion Xe and the back cap is stripped and the breach may be stripped. I thought that I might just buy an XE conversion kit and put it on my gun as a replacement part.
Does anyone know if the XE Conversion kit will fit on an XE?
Or could I just cannibalize the parts from the kit?

You should be able to cannibalize the conversion kit.

The color kit won't have the part he wants. A full conversion kit would do the trick for you. You may even be able to get an EOS firing can, bolt stop and cap cheaper than you can get the XE full conversion kit

I checked smartpartsparts.com but they are sold out of the part I need. I heard that smartparts is undergoing some sort of corporate reconstruction. Do you know when they might start shipping again?

www.smartpartsparts.com and SP are not the same company.

So if anyone knows of a place that still has the back cap in stock please let me know.

Sure thing. If you have the cash you can just get the conversion kit. But the back cap only costs about 20 when people have it in stock.
If you find one can you let me know?

DSDM is right. The hollow point bolt comes with its own back cap. I decided to buy it.

To prevent stripping out the new back cap again. with the back cap removed screw in the rear frame screw. see if it sticks into the threads. Most likely it will, you can either cut the screw off or buy a shorter screw.
When I had an XE and an EOS I bought shorter screws for both of them to keep me from forgetting to take the screw out first and screwing up the back cap threads.
