my first thought is that you are over pressurizing the noid before you can hit 285fps.
when is the last time you lubed the bolt and checked the orings?
the DP solinoid is a very good one. try opening it up and lubing the orings... you can even put a little bit of dow33 (or equivalent) into the macroline and cycle the gun to get it into the noid.. its best to open the noid and clean it out though.
does your reg have the red reg seat or the silver one (you want the red reg seat)
do you use an after market board? if so, make sure you dwell is 12ms -15ms
14ms is best
try another batter
try a different board if possible (maybe a buddy has a g3 and will let you barrow his board)
edit: if you can get access to a reg WITH a gauge on it, you can check the pressure that the gun actually shoots with. you should not have to get higher than 210psi to shoot 285fps.
Bolt was completely stripped of o-ring, re-oringed, greased, etc.
Board is stock, my field tech has checked the reg's output mutiple times and its on the spot, the noid is being overpressurized before reaching correct operating pressures.
When I get back from college I'll try relubing the noid as well as another new battery. Keep posting other possible ideas please, until then I'll stick to this plan and let you guys know the outcome around august 1st or 2nd.
EDIT: I will check the reg seat as well for future note, even though its working fine now.
Sadly the wires were torn out of the old one. The new one is all I have. Its a stock replacement noid from g3, not part of a parts kit (although I do have an expended parts kit) I took the last noid the store had when I got it, and it have never been lubed. I'll pick up some good grease (probably dow 33), and lube it up. I've heard the G3 doesn't like marker oil too much.
for the bolt you want to use very little dow33 (lurker lube, tect gun sav, sleek, etc is recommended, not just generic dow33. and STAY AWAY FROM DP LUBES) i use just enough to make the rings shiny, annd i make sure to lube it the night before i play. using to much can decrease performance and sometimes it will shoot lube into the bolt making your shots inconstant and you accuracy go to hell
for hpr you want to use dow55 ( i never do, i just use the same stuff as on the bolt and have never had an issue)
for the noid, your going to want to use the same stuff as the bolt. preferably stuff that sticks around (generic dow33 dosnt like to stay)
if it comes down to it, my buddy just bought my g3 and parts kit. if you need to im sure he will sell it for cheep(and we will make sure it works before shipping) just keep that in mind. we also have 2 stock board, and 2 stock bolts available if you need one
Thanks, I have access to stock parts from a fully functional G3 if needed though, and right now its looking like I may trade my gun for it along with some cash so the new owner can work on getting it running while I take his gun down to college to play on the team.
nope... just a silly secondary online name that stuck. I usually go by "Tool" for the band, the fact that I carry tools and work on guns, and that special forces have used it as a callsign before. My avatar is for that usual name.
Yeah, tool the band, and other reasons, but the username "tool" is already taken, so I used an old alternate name.
Not an official Tool video by the way. That was a fan created video that is basically recognized as official. The real video for "The Pot" was filmed over the 2006 winter holidays, but has never been released.
