If you are looking for realism, look away from airsoft. There isn't a single airsoft gun that will give you the recoil or even slightly similar ballistic characteristics as a real handgun.

Viper 37..you can change your recoil springs to match your real steel.

I like WE gas pistols, hold up great, good prices and tons of aftermarket goodies.
mags are easy to find, and re-build if needed.

i have no experice with a real thompson but i have felt a m16 an pistols before an they are pretty simlir i have a 466 fps airsoft thompson looks real an feels almost real mabye a little weight diffrence but overale perfect traning weapon an most of all these aer 189 brand new with orange tip i got one an i removed orange tip so now it looks real i will sell it to u if ud like pm me

Why would I want your AS Thompson to replicate a pistol?

i didnt look at any of the comments but KWA came out with a new LPR (something like that, hadnt checked in a whil =P) series that is electric but has realistic blow back. i own a kwa and there the best, never broken on me before!

You're talking about the ERG (electric recoil gun). It's a copy of the Tokyo Marui recoil system and has a functioning bolt lock. So when the mags out you have to hit the bolt release to reset the 'bolt'. They're supposed to be released this year but don't hold your breath.
