God I hope DRC, Rolle, and Campbell are healthy today for the Cardinals. Boldin is a very good WR, but I don't think him being out hurts them as much as DRC being out.

The great equalizer in football is playcalling and strong coaching.

Do you think the JETS and Mark Sanchez had any business going to Cincy and whipping the Bengals? We'll, they did simply because they have a great coach (who would have been the perfect coach here for many reasons) and a staff that understands the significance of a running game and playing to your strengths. Not that running the ball is our current strength. The running game has been and always will be an afterthought with this regime. For those of you who don't understand the significance of a one-dimensional offense, it's quite simple.....when can't do one thing, it's over. When a decent to good team comes to play you, they know what you are going to do and shut it down. It boils down to being out coached, not out executed.

Most teams go into games with a fraction of the plays the Eagles run. Why? They understand that repetition and familiarity gives you more of an advantage than trickery or different variations of the same philosophy. Football is a simple game played by teams and players that are pretty close in talent level when everything is weighed out. Sure, there's playmakers and special players that are head and shoulders above the average talent, but they only can perform given the opportunity to do so.

A Running back can't impact a game if he's only afforded 5 carries a game
A Wide receiver can't make plays consistently if his QB is scrambling for his life 80% of the time
A Offensive line will have trouble pass blocking 80% of the time without the chance to wear down his opponent by attacking rather than backing up.
A Corner will have trouble staying with his man if there's no pass rush
A Corner will get picked apart if he's playing off his man during a blitz against a veteran QB who knows how to hit hot-routes.
A pocket turns into a jail break if the defense knows the play is a pass
A drop by a wideout is more negatively impactful than a 3 yard gain by a running back
A route by a wideout has no room for error when the defense has no fear of the run

Everything you do if you run the type of offense the Eagles do, has to be perfect or it crumbles into the disaster we witnessed two weeks in a row.


The Eagles lost the same game two weeks in a row by being stubborn offensively and trotting out an identical game-plan. It's a broken record with this staff and the scapegoat McNabb who's resigned to running the pass happy, Arena league offense. Am I saying McNabb played well....absolutely not, but this coaching staff gives him and the offensive line no support by way of predictable one-sided gameplan.

The worst thing possible was Reid being resigned before the season had a chance to unfold.

On the positive side: We have a lot of young play makers who will be around for a long time. My thoughts on AR and McNabb are this: They cant get it done, trade McNabb, get rid of reid and sign a coach who wants to commit to the run, the eagles have the type of OL that can run the ball. Even before this season started, people on the EMB were more excited about 2010 then 2009, Its going to be a crazy off season though.

You know the top 2 seeds in the AFC have the 2 worst ranked rushing offense?

But having a balance does help a lot, and helps open up the pass. But i'd say the entire eagles team is to blame for last night (except maybe ST). McNaab, o-line, playcalling/Reid, defense, WR's, etc....

Yes.

Cincinnati's offense has resembled a wet floppy noodle recently and the Jets have the #1 defense an running game if I recall. And when Sanchez outplays Palmer, you're ****ed. As for the Eagles, you're so ****ed. How old is Kolb?

Oh, and if you see Seattle draft a QB but no OL in round 1 I will rage so hard. If it's ****ing Jimmy Clausen...oh man.
