Scary indeed lol ^

Paintball is def a change from the norm... its fun, it gets you away from your normal activity... Like cilio said, its a Target rich enviroment. Besides name another sport where you can shoot someone with a physical object all day then everyone goes home (airsoft is included in pb for this question fools lol)

Ohhh... just so you don't think I'm a total meathead, I actually do pay attention to the game... so I'll add to my very myopic statement, from my last post... there's points, a winner and a loser... being the latter sucks It's just nice to take out lots of people while you're trying to win

First time I played with Cilio was back in 05' at the NASPBL's final game up at EMR. He took point, laid paint on half the New England team within the first 30 minutes and basically put on a clinic.

Thats another reason why I play scenario, everytime out is a learning experience. Think you know the only way to approach a situation? Forget it. Take a second, sit back, evaluate, THINK, and then attack. Sure sometimes you don't have the amount of time you need but if you can coordinate with someone else from another squad out there and be successful that is a satisfaction rarely found in any other sport.

I look to the 2007 TTPL as another prime example. I had only played with the Reservoir Dogs 3-4 times before that so while familiar we still weren't completely working as one unit. Then over the course of that weekend through determined play, excellent team work and out of pure joy of play we ended up winning the 07' championship.

Sure the people build the game but the game and the people involved also builds a person, always for the better.

After a 15 year break, I'm back into PB and all I play is scenario play. There's a group of us that go out together and work as a team and man is it fun. I personally like to hide (camp) and wait to surprse somebody. That always brings a big chuckle. The local field we play on plays what we call 'Alamo'. It's 6 of us in a small 3 tiered building vs everybody else. This gets really intense at times, so much fun!

Thanks for the props Barney , oh and I know I have much to learn just another reason I love this sport so much. No matter who you are, where your from, or how long you have been playing there is always someone your playing with on any given weekend that can teach you something. We are all always on a learning curve trying to catch up and still trying to teach at the same time to the same people. Oh and sorry barney I going russian for the russian front game maybe we will be together for the WoA in April.

Sure could be. You're right about always learning while also teaching. I've got over 20 years and I get to still learn something new now and then.

But I would worry now about the Russian Front game. I know your route and I'm not stuck at the base this time.

The reason I know that I choose scenario versus any other branch of paintball is because of all the friends you make, all the different missions you can do, and the fact that once you are hit and leave the field after a certain amount of time you can go back into the game for the remainder of the game.. your not just hit and thats it.. you have like another 5 hours a play left unlike tournament where you get it, your out, and your done for the rest of the game....
Then theres the role playing aspect of it all... where else can you pull off shenanigans quite like we do?? Im not quite sure, but if you can tell me of another sport where its totally fine to run down the middle of the field like a maniac wearing banana or captain america costumes please let me know..

On a very visceral level: I love being in the woods and feeling that adrenaline rush caused by the knowledge that danger lurks all around.

Being successful comes with a steep price. One You have to work hard and be willing to sacrifice anything at anytime. Second you have to expect someone to paint a target on your back. Someone will always have you in the cross hairs. I have made my peace with that.

The rush of the combination of hunting and being hunted in the woods. I grew up in the hills of Tennessee and now live in Florida...this is the closest I can get to feeling like I'm back home.
The amount of area you can cover/take advantage of compared to other types of paintball.
The strategies involved.
The people are a lot more honorable/mature and a lot different than the stereotypical speedballers groups. The community as a whole I guess. You still come up against self inflating idiots but never an entire team of them.
The sheer number of players.
I don't have to worry about my 11 year old getting shot in the back of the head from 3 feet away (most of the time).
The length of the games.
The fact that the game isn't necessarily over when they have 5 guys left and it's just me and them, and the woods.
I'm sure there are other reasons too but I've only been playing for 4 months now...I need more time to realize them.
