PSP Rate of fire.

With the change to 12.5 bps being official will this affect SEPS ?

"PSP has received overwhelmingly positive feedback regarding the recently announced improvements for the 2010 season. PSP has also received comments from many players who were hoping for a 12.5 bps rate of fire limit to be extended through all divisions. In PSPís continued effort to provide the players with the playing experience they desire and have asked for, PSP will standardize the rate of fire limit for all divisions at 12.5 bps for the 2010 season."

well, I'm assuming that brent and all the other guys in charge of seps will convert the series ROF over to 12.5 as well... (and if we get really lucky, they'll change the seps rules to that of the psp 5 man series's.)

If thats the case then D4 would basically get nothing for the year but points and it would push a lot of teams not to sandbag . But at the same time newer teams that are looking to play D4 for their first taste will be discouraged because they may not be ready for open and get out there and get slaughtered. The only thing i have seen and could say that yes is a good idea if you won the previous season then you automatically move up. 1st and 2nd and even 3rd move to open I think that would make it fair and beat the sandbagging issue.

i think we should use 15 like the USPL is doing this season

"The United States Paintball League/National Professional Paintball League has received overwhelmingly positive feedback regarding the recently announced improvements for the 2010 season. USPL/NPPL has also received comments from many players who were hoping for a 15 bps rate of fire limit to be extended through all divisions. In USPL/NPPL’s continued effort to provide the players with the playing experience they desire and have asked for, USPL/NPPL will standardize the rate of fire limit for all divisions at 15 bps for the 2010 season."

Sounds like more of a winner to me

Why be a bunch of followers? Just split the difference and make it 13.75 bps

I would suggest 12.5 for D4 and 15 for Open, most of those players were playing when it was 15 so they won't mind it.

Why not change all of it to 15. Players will have to get used to it sooner or later

Why not? You could do 13.3 but then it's almost no different than 12.5. I think a big part to the SEPS success last year was due to the open division having a larger rof than D4. I didn't play but I saw it as that. Maybe i'm completely wrong, who knows.

I would play it at 15. To me it is more of a challenge to me, but like I said before I wouldn't mind it at uncapped semi

The SEPS will not use a rate of fire higher than that of the PSP, I would almost guarentee that. 12.5 is the ideal ROF for the open division, and 10.5 is great for d4. If you want to shoot 12.5, then play in the open division instead of d4. People complained after every event last year about overshooting, now they want to increase the rate of fire??????? We will see what happens this year.

You can never get rid of overshooting, that problem has always been around, and when doing a run through, one person will always get shot one or two times extra, I see why you would want to lower the ROF, but 15 is still more fun to play and adds more of a challenge

My opinion tho

I personally saw no problem with 10.5 in D4. SEPS is supposed to be fun.You want as many teams in the league as possible so you don't want to eliminate teams with the intimidation of a high rate of fire. If you want higher rate of fire for D4 then you should probably be in open anyway.

D4 at 12.5 would be a more respectable BPS rate for that div. Most of the guys skill level would have a problem i would think with more than that.

The majority of people that have been playing for more than 2 yrs have played at 17 +-15 - 13-10 or whatever their field limits them to. Memphis has normally allowed it fairly open but in the last few years have stayed with the rate change accordingly. The only differences between rates of fire are basically 1. You get a little tighter lane 2. You shoot more paint 3. It makes breakouts more interesting. 4. a lot more balls in the air. So skill level is not really an issue it raises things for back and mid players automatically, but for front players and snake players they can get shot out quicker. Over shooting well as we all know there is no overshooting technically but if you get bunkered you will get shot more on that note as bluntly as i can put it sack up and deal with it .. there is no crying in paintball
