You wont notice a difference when shooting at all, I say go with the dm7 they are lighter than the dm8 and have a thinner ul frame, and shoot the same as a dm9.

I think the DM9 has the best ergonomics. But I would say it all depends on how much cash you have. If cash it tight you won't be disappointed by the DM7 by any means.

They all shoot the same. You're best off getting a DM7 and saving money.

Dm7 all the way! I've owned or shot every DM to date and love my dm7 more than any other year. Shoots the same as dm 8/9/10, not much weight difference, you can find them cheap, and looks better in my opinion.

When did the eyes in the bolt start? The 8s? And the magnetic detents are nice also. I would go for an 8 and up.

Actually the magnet detents for the dm8 is the bane of it. Most users seem to just upgrade it to the dm9 eye pipe.

Dm7 still has the external eye access while dm8 onward removed the eye plate. When buying my first dm, the eye cover was one of the decodin factor.

I do find the hyper3 nice to grip....

At the end, they all shoot great depending on maintenance and tuning

Yes sir! I also think they look better.. but then again this is the guy who still uses an NYX vintage matrix for rec. They all shoot the same n you can pick up a nice DM7 for $300-400.

i disagree. the dm7 you can easily put your thumb in the grip frame from holding the reg

on a dm9, the frame is curved so it feels weird.

this only applies if you hold your reg with your full hand, and not put your thumb around the barrel or something like that. and again, feel of a gun is completely an opinion.

I put mine behind the feed neck, , or just on the side of the gun.

To me, this is more of a question of Dm7, or Dm9.

I would take a 9 over a 7, and they too are getting relatively inexpensive on BST, seeing them go for $650 isnt uncommon, and to me the extra few hundred is worth the difference.

The DM9 is by far the best DM of the line. I've had multiple DM9s, DM8s, and DM7s and the DM9s out-perform by a long shot. In my opinion they also feel better to hold, but that's personal preference. From working on Matrices I have noticed that the DM9 is the easiest to tune. It is also the easiest to disassemble and put back together without having a random leak pop out of no where and they are the most reliable of the 3. I would go with the DM9, hands down. It's well worth the extra $350 over the DM7.

Really? I found that all 3 seems to be the same when it comes down to servicing. Maybe you find the older dm has leaks is because they are older... So orings will need to be replaced as you keep using it. But I don't see that as a reliability issue.... Again, regular maintenance will ensure it is in good condition for any markers.

But it comes to personal preference to te ergonomics of the marker. And also the age of the models. Soon the resale of the 7 will be pretty low..... But only if you are going to sell it... Mine is a keeper so it doesn't worry me

Ive shot all 3 and I have got to say that they all shoot pretty much the same. the only differences you will notice while playing with them will be the weight (stuff all difference anyway) and ergonomics.

So like, already stated above it comes down to personal preference. Do you really care about the slight weight difference. Do you like the feel of the hyper 3 in comparison to the hyper 2. etc

You'll be happy with any of the guns. I've owned one of each in the past and they have all been great. Personally, I would go with an 8 with DM9 eyepipe, or a 9, because the eye pipe with integrated detents is definitely one of my favorite innovations in the DM line.

if anything the reliability of the bolt system is going to be different due to the oring tolerances rather than which dm it is.

they all basically use the same bolt, so they will all shoot the same, and all be the same to maintain.

what i have found is that i like the 9 over my old 7 bc of the eye pipe. now dont get me wrong i loved my old 7 and when i get some extra money will pick another one.
the eye pipe in the 7 you have to take off the eye covers and detents to remove the eye if you want the eye pipe to last longer.
where the 9 just pulls out and in.
other than that they are both great.

As long as you get a working one, your decision won't effect the outcome of any paintball game you ever play in.

i chose the 8 based on price point, looks, and having the dm9 eye pipe. none of that is going to make any real difference in the actual game though
