if you could get it to hold shape/pressure etc (probably could with resin or something of the sort) that would be really awesome.

With something to hold it together better (resin) im sure it would work, and be done similarly to CF. the way I see it, the best way would be to layer it till you have a 'block' of resin impregnated duct tape roughly 10" long (extra to work with) bout 2" square, and mill things from there.

I don't see why they shouldn't. I need to do a little post sanding, but other than that they are in the right locations and have, what I believe to be, adequate reinforcement. this body even has an SFT oring groove...yay!

yup, the air passages are next. I have some carbon tube that's been kicking round for a while now that I think I can use. i just need to get an actual bonding adhesive to join all the parts together. I also need to make a little block where the noid sits to route the air passages correctly. I may bond the tubes on first, and then use some scrap carbon to fill in the area between the tubes, and just machine everything once it's all cured. i'll be doing the VA mounting at this point as well.

after that comes the cosmetics and feedneck

are you going to make CF noid insert as well then? and will they be the same as stock shocker ones?
sorry for all the questions but I love to see custom projects that actually get worked on and not just all talk

I'm not actually going to have any inserts. My plan is to have all the air passages completely sealed. there will be no adjusting them. i figure i don't have to worry about more oring sealing surfaces this way, and trying to get a sealing surface that small (and long) would be a project in and of itself. I'll see about posting a CAD tonight of my plan.

in other news...I think I might have the frame all planned out....

i don't mind the questions at all...keep them coming!

Any idea what style frame? Are you trying to go with a more square esque frame, or try something ultralight-ish? Also is there any particular frame that you're basing your design off of?

well without giving up too much information, lets just say there may be an updated version of the CCM frame coming out soon enough (including a few new trigger shoes, yay!)....

CF CCM frame? that would be insane and something I would love to see.
a CAD of your design would be very helpful but I understand what you are saying and hopefully the noid tubes work out.

are you going to fill in the bottom of the body and between the noid tubes to make it flat like a stock body?

If your doing everything from scratch why even bother with air passages for the solenoid you could do one passage for the dump chamber and use hoses for the rest...

well I want it to be able to use the stock shocker parts for the most part. that includes the noid manifold. Besides the hoses would have to connect to something anyway.

Your creating a full custom shocker body from 100% carbon fiber?

Sweet, What twill & oz fabric are you going to be using?

Will this be milled from a block of carbon?

not 100% carbon, no. a combination of carbon and delrin so far. it's a 2x2 twill with 45-45 orientation. it's roughly around 1oz/yd^2, pretty light carbon that's why i'm using 5 layers+delrin. It sohuld be more than strong enough. No it's not milled. it's made very similarly to how they make carbon tubes. the carbon was cured over a mandrel, then the mandrel was removed to get the pictures that I have showed so far.

I also had yet another learning experiance...I went to install the bolt assembly and everything was going good until the bolt guide threads hit a burr or something. It seized up and then POP...the rear delrin ring started spinning around. It's an easy fix, but next time I'll have to remember to put some grooves in the rings that will prevent it from spinning.
