PhotoMOB v2 - Taking Over The World, One Tournament At A Time
2009 - Las Vegas, NV. A group of photographers came together to form a crew unlike any before!
We are a collaborative effort who have similar interests in photography, more specifically paintball photography. We have joined together, creating this group to bring our vision to the masses! We will take advantage of our numbers to learn from each other's strengths and improve on techniques that have been built by those who came before us. We will showcase our work and promote community beyond the field, by involving more and more photographers, hosting more and more events inside and outside of the sport.
To the players: We hope that you enjoy our work and support the photographers in the PhotoMOB! Hire them at events, give them thanks for making it to events, give them a water when they're in the pits! We'll be organizing new and exciting things for all of us to benefit from at events, ranging from "PhotoMOB PhotoBooths" to parties and group gatherings afterhours!
SYLPP! SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL PAINTBALL PHOTOGRAPHER!
To the photographers: If you're a photographer and would like to be involved... it all starts here! Post up, get to know the crew... we'll make sure to invite you out to our next meet up at an event or elsewhere! Membership requires a nomination from a listed PhotoMOB member and final membership decision will be based on the person's contribution to the thread. Pending memberships will be listed under the member list! The movement starts here!

I really like this one. Normally I crop tighter for a shot like that, but I really like the crop on this one.

The Secrets to Getting More Photos
By: Michael Wise Chrono300.com / ThePhotoMob.com
I can't tell you how many times I have gone out and shot a three day tournament and thought I did my job and did it well. My goal was to try and get as many cool shots as possible of as many teams that I could. Does that mean I made everyone happy? Well I know there is no way to take a photo of every player in an event with 100 teams, hell I won't even get every team and I know it. But think about it there are certain teams that just get camera loven from every photographer.
I am taking time to write this because it breaks my heart when the first thing I read on PBNation “only one of me” or “my team only got one photo” or even better “none of my team but Surge got a million photos”. So here I am writing this to help you stop that from happening time and time again. Trust me if you read this all the way through and follow a few of my suggestions you should see many more photographs in no time.
We are talking secrets people not obvious things like being a professional paintball player on a champion team. I can't tell you how to be Ollie Lang, Nicky Cuba, Thomas Taylor or Todd Martinez and every team can not be a champion caliber team. Those guys are going to get more camera loven than anyone because of who they are and what they have accomplished.
Have you ever gone to a party when you did not know anyone besides the people you came with? Well then you know how every photographer feels every time we pull out the camera at the field. Sure we know some of the people there but nobody knows everyone. Now add to that you have to take a camera and point it at someone you don't know even when you know that not everyone likes having their picture taken. How would you go about taking photos of a room full of people you don't know? Do you think most of the pictures you ended up taking at the end of the party would consist of the people you knew and the hottest girls and those two crazy guys that will do anything to get attention? That is exactly what you would come home to.
Stop a take a breath because this is going to be shocking, photographers are not mind readers. So unless you are close friends with the photographers or one of the two clowns that seam to be at every event chances are you may not get your mugshot taken most of the time.
So lets start this off with with the obvious, hire a photographer. That right reach into that pocket grab a wad of cash and hire a photographer. Nothing will ever get you more photos to fill your Facebook album with than simply hiring a photographer. It is probably the only win-win situation that can benefit you and keep a photographer around for a long time.
So here you are short of bills with my favorite person on them (it is Mr. Franklin if you did not know) and want to grab some camera time. Well here comes the second biggest tip you will ever get, free of charge. Let's say you are at a local event and you see Robbo (KeepItSquare.com) walking around the field with his world famous Robbo-Scope, walk up and introduce yourself. Holly Crap!!!! You got it, with a simple introduction you just broke down the first wall and increased your chances of getting a photograph by 90%. Once a photographer knows you it is kinda like a free pass to point the camera at you.
Suggestion from me to you, let the photographer know what you think of his/her work. Nothing feels better than reading an email or post on PBNation saying “thanks for the photo” or “great seeing you this past weekend”. We all learned please and thank you as children, it still applies at the paintball field. There are a few other ways of showing your thanks that come with almost no effort at all such as asking for a sticker (just about all of us hand them out these days) and placing them on that hopper. An even bigger way of showing support might take a little more planing such as placing the logo of the photographers website on your jersey. But keep one thing in mind, never ever throw it in a photographers face when you don't a photo in every gallery at every event. Nothing has ever made me feel less appreciated than someone saying “we had the logo on our jersey and we got no pictures”, it just happens from time to time.
Ever looked at a few different galleries and noticed even at local events certain players get tons of photos (even other players on your team) only to find none of you? Well there are certain things that cause this that you can't change example front players will always get more camera time than a guy playing back center. To go even a little deeper than this snake side players will always get more photos. The reason behind this is simple, the snake side will have more of what it takes to make a great photograph. What makes a great paintball photo? Running, diving and bunkering makes for some of the best photos and more of that goes on in the snake.
I am not telling you to change positions on the field but knowing where the camera is going to be facing out of the gate should give you an idea of what you are up against. So how in the world do you get the camera on you instead of that kid on the other side of the field with the pink mohawk? I would start by telling the photographer where you are going off the break out. This helps the photographer (you know the guy you made friends with earlier off the field) know where to stand to get a good action shot of you versus a simple picture of you posting up in a bunker (better known as a boring photo).
Photography is the art of capturing light and shadows, but to much of either will make for a bad photograph. If the photographer has to point the camera at you and the sun is behind you the photograph is going to make you look like silhouette (better known as a crappy photo that probably wont make the cut). Also keep in mind that when the field is dark that the photos will also be dark. I am not trying to make you a photographer but hang with me a second it will all come together.
When you are designing your team jersey at the beginning of the season (you know that thing you are going to put your photographers logo on) remember the camera needs contrast between colors to look good. Sure being AGG is cool and all with black head to toe but rarely will that make for a good photo. Remember back when I was talking about being black like a silhouette? Well that still applies here. Some black is great when paired up with a little color. Getting custom jerseys made is not cheap, make a jersey that does not pop will lower your entire teams chance of getting photos. Don't have a clue on what colors will take better photos? Well there has been millions of dollars spent on this already, look at any pro sport team out there.
If you are going to wear an all black mask don't where tinted lenses because you won't be getting much camera time. The best advice I can give you in this case is to rethink what you are going wear. In the very least consider clear or mirrored lenses. Clear lenses show emotion and mirrored lenses are like a mirror of what you are looking at (looks cool in photos).
Remember back when I was talking about the two clowns at every party? Well showing up to an event with a mohawk dyed pink will always get you a photo but keep in mind why. It is NEVER because you are cool, it is because you have become the clown that we are all laughing at. Also keep in mind photos have a way of coming back to haunt you....don't be the clown.
So to wrap it all up again, hire a photographer, tell them you like their work, show your support for what they do, look good and don't be a clown. It's pretty simple, you can't all be champions but we sure as hell can do our best to make you look like one.

Mike if you don't mind can I edit this (you know what I mean by that ) and post it on the photomob website?! This is great but I think if we got this somewhere where we could link to it and throw it in our signature, ("want to get more photos of you playing? Click here!) Would get the word spread about this and the photomob website. Let me know man. I'll get on it tomorrow, as I'm posting from my blackberry right now
