Supra:a legacy frogotton
i dont understand why toyota quit production on such a nice car. it was one of the best sport cars that was ever put into mass production that an average person could buy. it came stock with twin turbos and fuel iinjected and had 320 +/- hp. insane

you realize that the mk4 supra wasn't its only incarnation? mk3 and older supras were nothing to write home about, and even the mk4 weren't as awesome out of the box as a lot of people like to make them out to be.
320 hp? maybe to the crank, they were factory rated at 275. 275 horses pushing nearly 3500 pounds isn't exactly race car status.

Average person can't afford a 30,000 dollar car. Average person doesn't need a car like that. Toyota is making a RWD car in 2012 I believe, it's supposed to be the reincarnation of the Supra and AE-86. I believe it's called the FT-86

he also probably doesn't realize it was just a fancy celica for a number of years., though during the mk4 years the cars platforms split. hence the full name Celica Supra

in mk3 is when it officially split, mostly because toyota decided to make the celica FWD
mk1 and 2 the supra was essentially a 6 cylinder celica.

overseas they were called celica supras untill they stopped producing them.

Some dyno's from Supras are crazy. I went to a place with a dyno to get my gears done and the highest hp car they dyno'd was a supra. It was interesting because it made only ~300hp at ~5500 rpm's, then it jumped to ~800 at 7500-8000 rpm's. Talk about a small powerband/highway car/dyno queen.

I don't really understand why they quit production either, and pretty much have not had a single performance car since, but I was too young at the time to see how it was selling and what not.

turbo lag.
There is a video on here of an 8 second supra that really doesnt do **** in the lower revs but basically goes to light speed in the high side of the tach.

MK4 wasn't the only non-Celica based Supra.
Edit: Damnit, I'm slow.

What's that saying about MKIV Supras? Something like, "1000HP and a 12 second 1/4 mile."
It's a GT car, just like the same generation 300ZX, 3000GT, and RX-7. I think they were all awesome cars from a much different era, and each one has strengths & weaknesses. The problem with all of them was simply demand.
