PM7 BWing Bolt Conversion

Warning, this started out of shear boredom and the fact I own too many Matrix markers. This might not be for everybody, but its just good info on compatibility between markers IMO.
First this started out as a curiousity as to what bolt kits work in which markers. A PM8 bolt kit less the front can was used and was tested to work. Next a DM9 bolt kit same as before required only the swapping of the front can for the stock PM7 can. Below you'll find pictures of the bolt kits next to each other to show the same dimensions in length. Only the bolt diameters and the corresponding counterparts were the changes made to.

From Left to Right PM7 Bolt, DM9 Bolt, Bwing bolt w/ PM8 back cap
Front Left PM7 front can, DM9 bolt can

From Top to bottom PM7 bolt, DM9 Bolt, Bwing bolt w/ PM8 back cap
Right top PM7 front bolt can, DM9 bolt can

New assembly consisting of PM7 front can, Bwing top hat, Bwing bolt and PM8 back cap

Assembly installed in PM7

Results:
The test marker functions a lot smoother. It was noted that the DM9 stock internals were less poppier sounding as that I believe is contributed by the air flow restriction of the soft bolt tip on the Bwing assembly. Marker was tested with DM9 internals in games. Bwing installation only test fired, but forsee no issues to arise. It was also noted that the PM8 backcap didn't seem to thread right into a stock DM9 top hat.

Next possible future compatibility test will be on a friend's PM5. Bolt kits looked similar in length in side by side comparison.

Very nice I was waiting for you to start a thread bear and some good pic's too. Could you take a pic with the dm9 back cap instead of pm8 and also a pic looking down into the breech?

Thanks,

-B

Very nice.

So in order to do this I DO need a pm8 back cap correct? Can other caps thread correctly into the top hat and body like dm caps? I like the cuts on them.

And what about the bolt cap that comes with the kit? Does that fit? (here's a picture and info) http://www.punisherspb.com/dye-limit...-bolt-kit.aspx

Blind-
Here you go.

DM9 back cap installed

Breech view (black part is soft tip)

WKS-PM8 back cap plus DM9/PM8 Bwing kit. DM9 is the only compatible backcap for that particular bolt. I picked up the last graphite PM8 color kit that AV had in stock for this install. I am not 100% sure that the link provided actually comes with the backcap. I'd call before I ordered to have someone visually confirm. The DM9 backcap is more aesthically appealing IMO as well. I would just keep it but I plan on selling my DM9 and there was an issue with the PM8 back cap and the stock DM9 tophat threading together correctly.

Thanks bear that clears up some loading issues that i thought might arise with the soft tip. I'm probably going to do this so i'll tell everybody how it goes!

Thanks,

B Great Job!

so dm9 back cap works fine? I'm just curious cuz the pm8 color kits are kinda strange colors. my pm7 is silver with black accents, so finding a normal color or a color that would look good with it its kinda hard.

I know what you mean. The kit installed on mine is a graphite, but its almost olive. Fun part is finding a DM9 backcap. Calling Dye would probably be the easiest way to acquire one.

Which begs the question, can you use a PM7 bolt in a PM8? If so, would you need to use any other PM7 parts in the PM8 to get it to work? Why? Well, I wouldn't mind trying an Orange bolt in my PM8.....

I assume that you would need a pm7 tophat and back cap in order to match the rear section of the bolt.

From what i've notice, just about about all pm bolt kits are interchangeable. I currently use a proto evolve bolt in my pm7

I think that it work. I did start this with using a PM8 bolt in a PM7 and am pretty sure it worked in reverse. There is no reason that it wouldn't.

Pm'd you back. Yeah it just felt like it wanted to bind a bit, but the PM8 rear cap and bwing top hat threaded smoothly.

in your opinion was there that much of a difference between using the bwing and the dm9 bolt or were they pretty close? and was the dm9 bolt any better than the stock?

i mean the bolts themselves dont appear any different the only real difference between the bw and dm9 and pm7 is that the bw is polished right?
