Yes you can enlist as a 68W (health care specialist) with option 40 (ranger). You will have to pass Air Borne school and then you will be assigned to 75th Ranger Regt and then get put on a order of merit list for RASP(this what I was told from my last Ranger recuit I enlisted) any one one from BN please correct me if I'm wrong, but it used to be mos, abn, rip and pass all 3 then on to regt

I was enlisted previously and had a ship out date for 20091021. The 20th came along and I was on my way to MEPS when my recruiter got an e-mail stating I was pdq by medical because of my back. (Scoliosis) It's past 35 degrees (37 degrees to be exact) which was the disqualifying factor.

I've done two medical waivers both being declined on the basis that there is nothing further to review. This has been my goal since I was a kid, which wasn't too long ago, and I get ****ed over by something as small as 2 degrees? No lack of flexibility, mobility, and no back pain whatsoever. I have medical reports from numerous orthopedists stating so. I scored well on my asvaps, willing to take the 6+ years on my initial contract if that gives them any more incentive to take me, and I'm more than willing to go combat arms.

Anything I can do? I imagine going to another state and enlisting won't do anything nor would continually sending in waivers though I could. I'm planning on enlisting again every year but if it really is no use than at least I can save myself from re-experiencing MEPS.

One thing you may be able to do is get a second opinion from your personal doctor, this is a common problem with enlisting guys or gals with a open profile. If there is one thing I have learned in my 13yrs in the Army the 1st no never means no it means come back till I say yes or you keep comming back till your told dont come back ever again lol. I had one girl join for me that was not recommended 2 times due to being hit by a car and having reconstuctive sergery on her knee and shoulder, it took about 1 year till we got the ok for her to join, she is now a wheeled vehicle mechanic stationed in Germany. Also remember this its the Recruiters job to put you in the Army its the Medical section at Meps not to let you in. So I would sugest you go see your personal Doc to get a second oppinion. Aslo if it makes you feel better only about 5% of the population can join the Military with out some sort medical issue or a waiver being medical or moral. so dont think your that one person that cant join, your the norm

My recruiter advised me to get a second opinion that morning. I got an appointment, had the doctor write up a report, and I sent that in with the second waiver. It was all positive remarks but I guess it wasn't of much importance since they declined that one as well.

I would send in waivers back to back for years but I don't know what else to show them. I can't keep going around to doctors, having them tell me that my medical condition shouldn't pose a problem, and then being turned away because the military doesn't need me since it is being filled up by jobless, middle aged men/women.

It's been two months and I'm still not over it lol. I'll take up your advice and call up my recruiter and have him request another waiver. No harm in it I guess.

Ranger medics have to go through a special school before being sent to their Battalion. From what I understand it's like the 18d course, probably not quite as high speed but better then normal medics.

If I EAS from the Marine Corps as a scout sniper, can I cross decks on an 18x contract and go straight to the Q course? What kind of pipeline would I be looking at?

edit: or should this question be directed at an army career planner/moniter

No allergies are not a disqualifier asthma is remember the docs ARE NOT YOUR FREIND they will turn allergies into asthma in a heart beat and disqualify you till you can prove it's not asthma, constipation is nothing to worry about, for your detainment your recruiter was just lazy and didn't want to get your police and court records to say you were not in any kind of trouble, and told you not to say anything, and no nome of this will come back to bite you, and as far as you telling ops about your ticket you fell for the okie doke of getting a 25000 fine and 5 years in prison, with the media of today of how they dislike the military don't you think you would have herd of someone going to jail for trying to join the military?

Well you should stab your eyes out and make sure the fork is sharp and I'll help you find that pit and I'll light the babies on fire and I'll phone Barry Obama to get him to drop the a-bomb and then we will make sure that city is in the middle east and then I'll make sure it's filled with radical muslims and then I may stop using my iPhone to answer the questions and then I may stop using run on sentences so your poor widdle eyes won't bleed anymore oh and the kittens shouldn't be starving anymore cuz they will have all the burning babies and dead radical muslims to feed on ................. insert periods where you want them,,,,,,,,,,,, add the commas if needed and remove all the ands that are not nessasary and it won't be a run on sentance and I don't think you will have to do any of the above by stabing out your eyes or you can just not worry about run on sentences when have the people on here can't sp3ll 0r rite 0r sp311 c0r3ktly but if I did all that then we wouldn't be having this conversation

Here is the thing with anything you tell the military. If its something that they are easily going to find (ie you were in jail for a week) on simple checks then YES you need to tell them about it. I had a speeding ticket that got dismissed so I didn't mention it...and they found it. Not a big deal but just saying they can find things like that.

If its medical and its something easily found...ie you have hardware in your body (pins, needles, screws, etc.) then YES you need to tell them. I laughed my *** off when a female tried to tell the medical doctor that she'd never had any problem with her ankle when she had pins and screws in it clearly seen on an xray. If you have seasonal allergies its not a big deal. If you have allergies to the point you can't function or run then yes you need to tell them...otherwise keep your mouth shut about it.

The recruiter is right. Medical can take the most simple things and twist them into life altering horrible looking problems on medical records and deny admission.

As my recruiter told me...I'm the only person in the world who is trying to get you into the military. Once you're in everybody else will be trying to get you out.
