Degassing making bolt pop forward

Have a brand new geo I got at world cup and the bolt is moving forward and firing a shot when degassing. Even when i degas slowly it can happen. I read through the forums and found that I should check my pcv. I am having trouble taking the macroline elbow off of the collar. Is there any other way to examine whether my pcv is existent/working? If not, does anyone have any tips on removing the macroline fitting? It seems to be on there pretty damn tight.

The macroline fitting is installed with threadlock in order to make it airtight.

Wrap the reg in masking tape to prevent scratches, and then use a spanner, vice grips etc. to remove the macroline fitting, or if you have access to a bench vice, clamp the fitting in the vice and then turn the reg around the fitting.

There's no way to access the PCV other than by removing the macroline fitting.

If you can find the right sized wrench it makes it alot easier. I dont remember the exact size though.

Eclipse products are notoriously difficult when it comes to removing macro line fittings from the factory. This is a good thing, but it sometimes makes simple maintenance a pain in the butt. When I took off my fittings to replace with black, I wasn't worried about marring the fittings, but your best bet is masking tape and a vice. It will take a little torque, but they'll come right off. You PCV probably isn't there and will need to be replaced, that or it's in the wrong way.

Picking up a vice tomorrow to attempt to take off the fitting. Couple of post-op questions for you all:

1. Once I remove the fitting and determine there is no pcv, who should I contact to get a new one?

2. If I do find a properly installed pcv, what else could the problem be? asa perhaps?

3. When putting the fitting back on, is there a specific amount that it needs to be screwed in? Can I use a swivel elbow? Should I use locktite or is teflon tape sufficient?

Thanks in advance for any and all answers.

Don't use teflon tape....it will get into your air system and clog up your noid filter.

If you take off the reg and remove the macroline you should be able to hear the plastic "T" piece rattling around when you shake it. Nothing else should rattle.

The PCV valve could potentially be damaged or blocked with something, so I think that it is still worth checking on.

Nicky at Planet - or Gerry at the US office - should be able to sort you out with a PCV if necessary.

No harm in installing a swivelling elbow. Threadlock would be better, as has already been stated, or if you are going to fit a different elbow anyway, you could go for one of the ones that has sealant pre-applied to the threads. Screw it in until the fitting starts to get hard to turn.

Local paintball store? If not them then you would need to find a supply house that stock lots of orings.....like a hydraulic parts warehouse or something.

sorry, can't tell you where. Perhaps cjlovi can shed some light on the situation as to where he got the softer orings.

well, i've given up. I am still unable to remove the fitting, even with heat and a vice. the fitting looks like ****, but at least it still works. the bolt moving forward and shooting a shot is not a big enough issue for me. I would rather deal with the degassing thing then ruining my gun attempting to get at my pcv. thanks for your time and advice guys. maybe i'll just take my gun to an eclipse booth next psp event.

Why don't you just contact Gerry Bates at our RI Service Department on either (401) 2479061 or gerry.b@planeteclipse.com and get it sorted out?

Better safe than sorry, any day of the week

Gee Thanks Nicky! You spoiled my one and only day of peace and quiet! Now I'm never going to get that nap in on Wednesday!

Yes...I am here on Wednesdays...but that's my day of working on markers so that I can keep all you guys happy! I try to get as many repairs done on that day...but if you call me...you interrupt the spinning of my keys and delay the repair...lol. I do try to ignore the phone as much as possible on Wednesday!

the same thing happened to one of mine 3 geos , and that was caused by a bad solenoid, probably because of heavaly overlubing. (the entire noid was filled with lube) if nothing else works, check the noid.

I swapped sparts between the guns until I found the problem.

just an update to this thread:

got my gun back and spoke with gerry regarding the issue. Apparently the issue is the st kit. The bolt is moving forward due to the fact that the ST can only has one hole. I confirmed this by putting in the stock bolt system and the bolt did not move forward. So just a small warning to GST owners: remove all paint from marker before degassing or else there is a chance that a paintball will leave the marker from the barrel.
