If you think Blackboard is awesome then you haven't experienced it to its full extent, i.e. crashing every other day, getting locked out, not saving your answers, ect. I could go on but everyone knows what I'm talking about... It's a piece of **** and every professor I've talked to that is forced to use it thinks the same way.

We use Angel for 4 of my 5 classes. Its not bad if the teachers actually do it or have their TA do it. My English teacher is a dumb *** from hillbillyville who cant even work an overhead projector so his has nothing on it so nobody in the class knows when everything is due because his syllabus is all off.

All of my teachers this semester use blackboard and use it well. They only use it for posting homework, test reviews, and the occasional online quiz though. I like it.

The people who like it simply have not had the oppotunity to use all of its "features". Most of my professors use just about every feature on it from discussion boards, grades, assignment hosting, lecture copies, due dates, staff information, class rosters and emails of fellow students, quizzes, tests, online assignment submission, etc. It's a finicky piece of ****. I'll be taking a quiz, click save, close the saved window, try to save the next question and then get locked out of the quiz. Or uploads will corrupt, errors occur and entire pages of submitted discussion is lost, etc. That and the damned thing has such poor customization for grading criteria. It'll say I have a 94% in my pysch class but really I have a 96% according to professor records and calculations. **** it.

It's a novelty for first and second year students. Past that you're just bound to learn why it sucks.

Meh, never found it that difficult. I thought Moodle was easier to navigate though.

nope my teachers use all the features and I never have problems. I am always on the move with my netbook and blackboard is very useful because of all those features. I would say its ur schools network and how they formatted/customized blackboard for the schools use

same, blackboards arent all the same. my friend that goes to another school, his looks a lot different and doesnt even have all the options mine does.

i have used it all, quizzes, tests, emailing the whole class, grades, etc and i have never once had a problem with any of it. ours goes down about once a week around 4am for updates, maybe some schools dont update theirs enough.

i work for blackboard support at temple university, it only sucks when teachers think they are using it properly and they are not. besides that i dont mind the system. The newer edition which we are getting in the summer, blackboard learn, is pretty nice

I hate blackboard. It's only good when a professor knows how to upload something and you're able to d/l the file correctly. Half the time, my classical music prof. tries to upload a music file we're supposed to listen to and it doesn't download or stream correctly, resulting in me having to look it up on Real Rhapsody or YouTube.

I can't imagine taking a final through the damned thing.

reccomended browser for blackboard is mozilla firefox 3.5 as of now, they just made updates for later versions and for IE8, finally

if using IE and still having trouble, turn on compatibility mode

I get constant connection errors and sluggishness no matter what computer or internet connection I use. It's pure garbage.

I think it has potential but as mentioned before most professors are very unprofessional and have no clue how to use it. The one or two that actually do put it to use make my life much easier

i just hate when it goes down.
