Unhappy Options for Barrel Breaks

Okay, so I put a case of big ball through my Omen and my 2K3 Piranha this weekend, what a disaster . The paint was awful in both markers and everyone was spraying yogurt. I switched to some evil paint I had an shot 500 with no issues (nice paint, but expensive). I then tried the normal field Blaze and started to have what I think where barrel breaks. The paint was small bore and before I go out and buy a .679 barrel just to solve the barrel breaks I want to be sure that is what is happening and that the recock problem is solved.

Is it normal with barrel breaks to have any paint reach the face of the bolt through turbulence or backflow? Is there a concrete sign that tells me if it was a breech or barrel break?

Why does the paintball break if it rolls forward a little bit? I would think that the pressure wave is weaker as the gas expands down the barrel than at the bolt face.

Does anyone sell a ball detent for the Omen? I heard that there was a barrel section available for cockers which is much narrower than the barrel and screws in between the barrel and the marker to function like a ball detent. Has anyone tried this or know where I could find one?

Thanks
SplatM

The barrel you are reffering to is the OTB barrel, I do not recomend it for the price, your better opff getting a Pipe.

I would really recomend that you invest in a barrel Kit. It seams you are using alot of different paint. Shad here in PBN sells piupe kits for $160, whitch is a VERY good price, you can not go wrong with a Pipe, best barrel on the market IMO.

Are you using CO2? That can cause massive barrel/breach breaks.

I am running a pipe kit (always the first purchase for any marker ) but the smallest size is .683 and the Blaze rolls out of that bore. I only run the Omen on N2 and the speed stability is 90% +/- 3fps.

A barrel break can result in some paint being on the bolt... but a breech break is noticeably different in that you will have a helluva lot of paint in the breech, and the gun might not even recock due to shell peices left in the breech area. So if you're getting a mild splattering of paint on the bolt its a barrel break.

You're getting barrel breaks even though its really loose... that's kind of wierd but could happen if the ball smacks against the sides with enough force. I've also noticed that with a ball that rolls, you tend to get barrel breaks... but they are usually caused by another ball being slammed into a ball that is already in the barrel... which usually shoots the first ball out the front but the second ball usually breaks upon collision.

There really isn't much out there in term of detents, in all these years I've never needed a barrel as small as the one you require... your solution: buy that tiny barrel .

Perhaps you got a bad batch of paint????

Big ball worked GREAT in my stock barrel, even better then evil because it matches the bore better.

You coukld drill it, but it ould not do any good, it would cause alot of spin to be put on the ball, and massive barel brakes from hitting it hard when fired.

Thats a cocker detent, so assuming you drill/tap where it goes on a cocker, it won't do anything except for what the anti-doubler arm already does. On an autococker it stops balls from double feeding but then the bolt pushes the chambered ball past it anyway, and a tight paint to barrel match stops the ball from rolling out.

i'd love to but everywhere I play requires Field Paint. Doesn't matter since a thread striped out of the marker and its going back to PMI today.
