ill keep an eye out in washington DC!
ill shoot an email to the first helicopter squadron here on base to keep and eye out for any red ballons. they are always flying into DC. the pro's of knowing pilots!

It still sounds like there is a lack of a plan, everyone will have to work together to find all of the balloons. We should appoint a lead man to submit the entry and everyone that submits the correct co-ordinates of a balloon should get a split of the prize money!!! (10 balloon finders + 1 lead man $40,000.00 / 11 = $3636.36 each) sound good?

sounds good to me.
I wonder if there is a way to call or research public records somewhere for permits and such to do this. I know it's darpa, so probably not, but I would think that police stations or air traffic control towers would have to know about this considering the panic Boston (Boffton ... linger longer) went into with the 'Aqua Teen Hunger Force' lightbrite promotions. |

Don't have an iPhone or a GPS unit?
Install google earth...
when friends or you find a ballon, get an idea as to "where".
i.e. in local park or some grocery store parking lot...
then "google-Earth"(install google earth first) that place....at the bottom of the screen will be the longitude/latitude of that place as you hover over it with your mouse...

That's where I've heard of DARPA before!! I'm 10 miles outside DC. It's snowing here today. Not many people out. I went 3 miles down the road, didn't see any big balloon.
