How did you find/pick your college?

Like the title says basically. How and/or why?

I picked one based off the amount of degrees they had initially, because I wasn't quite sure what I wanted to do. This bought me some time to learn a little bit more before I made a committed decision.

Also I wanted to be far enough away from home, but not like 10 hours away. A lot of state colleges will offer a in-state tuition reduced cost.

Wanted to stay in New York state, wanted to be at least an hour away from home, applied to a couple schools, didn't get into my first choice, chose Niagara U based off things I heard (education is top notch, high job acceptance rate, 5-year MBA program, gorgeous campus, hop and skip and you're in Canadaland shopping for strippers).

Freshman year was fun, but I was still looking for "more." Two years later I couldn't be happier that I chose NU.

Chose to stay in state and went to The Ohio State. They have great engineering programs (which is what I finally settled on). It was relatively close to home and tuition was very reasonable. Great opportunities for coops, internships, and research positions. That and there was much to see and do on as well as off campus.

Needless to say, OSU was the only school that I applied to because I was not really interested in going to college initially. Now, I look back and can say that it was one of the best (and luckiest) decisions I made.

I chose a local community college based on living situations and finances. I will probably stay at a community college for three years then transfer to a University the last year. I won't be having the traditional University experience sharing dorms with people and living the campus life. Basically show up for class and go home. I prefer the traditional route but don't have the finances for the University and don't feel like paying back loans until i'm forty years old.

Community College- I didn't know what I wanted to major in and honestly my grades were not good from high school because I was lazy so I didn't really have a choice.

University I am at now- I love living at home so I chose it for distance so I could just commute. Luckily it worked out perfectly for me because they have a great pre-dental program.

First was staying in state since tuition is a fraction of the cost. And I just went to the biggest public school since they had the most options for what I wanted (Engineering).

I just took all of the universities in my state and then put their mascots against each other in a fight. Bobcats came out on top.

Mine was a bidding war I got accepted into every school I applied to in NC then it was down to who gave me the most money because my major computer science is everywhere and they all teach you the same thing so then I really decided by which one had the most active paintball team because I had nothing other to choose by and that when I toured Ecu loved it knew people on the laintba team there already so it was a easy choice

After I got my acceptance letters and aid offers I looked at their rankings, after graduation statistics and last but not least their male to female ratio. Just the important things.

I made my selection based on a different route. I was in between Babson and Bentley for the longest time (visted both say 3 times each) and knew I wanted a small but good business school, close to a major city but not in it. That narrowed me down a lot, but it was still a tough choice. Entrepreneurship was a big focus of mine and for that reason everyone said Babson, but I chose bentley specifically because I realized that I don't need a degree in entrepreneurship to own/operate a business. So I decided i'd rather major in something techincal/practical (economics finance) and minor in entrepreneurship so that I could have a firmer understanding of the fundamentals.

College is about what you absorb and what you learn, not about what grades you get or what you major in. Go with a school that will allow you to maximize the former but also allow you to live in an atmosphere you want.

Define you parameters (like mine in bold), and then go with the place you could best see yourself living for 4 years. But keep the big perspective in mind too.

Well this is going to sound crazy but my major was at every school I got into and when I toured them all that was the one I just liked the most and they have me the most money and on top of all that they have the most established NCPA team near me

They, being Boise State, guarantee you'll get your classes when you need them and they have a good Psych department. Plus it's gorgeous, everyone is nice, and there are practically no gun laws :p

I emailed the VA dept of GVSU, MSU, and U of M...

GVSU - 2 days
U of M - 2 weeks
MSU - Longer than 2 weeks if received at all.

I figured that was my best bet.
