Yeah, our arena is pretty well lit. Idk why the hell there were a couple of the BSU Photo Services guys using the arena strobes... I shot with my Canon 28 f/1.8 and 50 f/1.4.

1.
Camera: Canon EOS 40D
Exposure: 0.003 sec (1/320)
Aperture: f/2.8
Focal Length: 28 mm
ISO Speed: 800
Exposure Bias: 0 EV
Flash: Off, Did not fire

2.
Camera: Canon EOS 40D
Exposure: 0.002 sec (1/500)
Aperture: f/2.8
Focal Length: 50 mm
ISO Speed: 1250
Exposure Bias: 0 EV
Flash: Off, Did not fire

3.
Camera: Canon EOS 40D
Exposure: 0.002 sec (1/500)
Aperture: f/2.8
Focal Length: 50 mm
ISO Speed: 1250
Exposure Bias: 0 EV
Flash: Off, Did not fire

The exif data was on my flickr too, for future reference.

sabre those are all really good, 2nd is my favorite. I am really jealouus of your arena lighting, when i first say those I thought you were using some sort of strobes, but that is tight that those are all natural light.

Liking the IQ. I'm hopefully going to grab a 50 1/4 myself, but I want a new body first.

Got a shot of mine in the university paper. Pretty sweet for it being my first shoot for them, and very interesting in how their workflow is organized. Had to write up my own captions and stuff. My first work with anything journalism.

Actually that's a good caption. I like when I'm able to see a tid-bit about the picture and info about the school.

I am an editor for my university's paper, writing your own captions is standard. When shooting non sports things, make sure to always get the names, and if it is for a school, get their grade. Do that, and photo editors will love you, also they love it when you write longer cutlines like you did. If you have any questions about the process, feel free to PM me.

Your horizon is off in the HDR. I can only hope your teacher marks you down for lazyness.

Try to make is something special. Photography assignments are like papers in teachers hate seeing the same old **** over and over again. Think of something you haven't seen before or is interesting to you and make it happen.

if he had any respect for artisticness or innovation i would totally agree. taking this photography was the worst idea i have ever had, i thought it would further educate me about photography but it sucks. when we did B&W he bashed my picture for having "too harsh of contrast and not enough grey", yes he wants more grey in my B&W. so for then on i just gave him what he wanted. and if he wants a seasonal HDR, ill give me a christmas tree.

the B&W i did

Thats a really good shot... thats the kind of look I go for when I shoot film. Look at things this way, though... Only when you know all the rules can you break them in truly original ways.
