Toledo Players

hey guys - I'm just getting back into playing and trying to find people who play in the Toledo area. I thought warzone had an indoor speedball field but from what I'm reading it doesn't sound like they do anymore...which sucks since I just bought all my gear assuming I would have someone close to play year round. Anyone play there frequently or anywhere else close by?

but they got rid of the indoor field they had? I just don't get why you would get rid of something like that if they still have the space, but I also don't know that there are many people who play in Toledo.

what are some good places to play that are within driving distance of Toledo? I didn't see too many when I was looking - I expected Michigan to have some that were closer than a 2 hour drive but by the looks of peoples comments on other threads it seems like most good places are a decent ways away.

2 hours is pretty short driving distance compared to what we're used to over the past couple seasons. everyone is/was going to TC (GR/Lansing), CRU, Dropzone, Plex, TPA when that was a thing, etc

also you can easily expect 15+ guys with lots of psp experience this weekend so this would be the weekend of all weekends to show and get to know the echelon of players in toledo you didnt know

I wish I could - I don't have all my gear in yet...just ordered everything the past week and a half and am basically getting it all in in pieces right now. If I get lucky and my tank ends up here this weekend somehow I'll definitely show up.

I bought all new gear a couple years ago and never got a chance to play. Now I'm starting to get the itch to play and I can't find any places close by to play. I'm in North central Ohio. Lorain County. Not much around unfortunately. I wish it was as popular as it was when I started back in the late 90's early 2000's!

I'm 30 minutes south of Toledo. I usually play at Warzone, and it is mostly rentals because they don't have a full size field, and got rid of their indoor. I've played at Splatter Park in Mt. Gilead, and they have a great complex. That's roughly 2 hours away.

Eh, Splatterpark is functionally dead as a Speedball field. No one goes, field is horribly maintained. Paintball Xcape is the best place for competition in the Columbus area.

Splatterpark is pretty decent but only from the recball woods all perspective. I haven't been there since they put the speedball up last year but knowing where they did and from what others said I wouldn't play on it. If you are looking for woods all and a big turnout then it is good for that. If you want speedball and you want competition go to xcape or plex in Fort Wayne or cru in michigan

I would spend the extra time on the road and go to the plex if your serious about getting back in good outdoor field and a good indoor field ... No poles in the middle of the field . and you have a chance of getting tips and spins with some pros also the atmosphere is good.. Good prices as well

I went to the plex over the winter and their indoor is horrible for speedball. They make it like a scenario field with bunkers. And ALL the people running the place are very unfriendly db's. I'd never spend the time or $ to go back there.
Sunday mornings at Warzone is getting good for speedball. Just have to blow the bunkers up once in awhile.

I play at the plex at least 2 times a month and the only time I have seen the staff become unfriendly is when people are being extremely disrespectful or blatantly ignoring the rules... yes some of the field set ups aren't the best but a player looking to get better doesn't care about the field layout.

Every time I've been to plex over the years they've been very friendly and accommodating. The layouts are fine. The only thing that sucks is the extremely sticky turf. Like the guy above said, they were only ever DBs to people when they deserved it. I went to plex many times this year and it was great.

Plex is a great place to play. I can comment about about the indoor field but every time I went it was good time.

The staff is laid back but not careless
Paint is always good
Field layout some may not like but I also though it was good change reminds of hyperball with inflatable bunkers
Nothing got stolen ever including my wallet/cell phone
