Went to the Oregon vs. ASU game and got some shots. We had great seats but football pictures were mediocre w/a 200 f4l. Thought these were decent enough maybe.

The real enemy . 3 rows up from me. Nikon D3. Couldn't really get a feel for the lens. I did see tamron but I wasn't sure if that was an extender or not.

Where our seats were:

Took this for Chubs:

I like those a lot. The horse picture is still my all time favorite of yours though.

Why is there so many people on one side, and nobody where you were?

We got to Autzen like 4 hours before gametime. The one where no one is is because we were there before anyone got there. Which doesn't matter because they were season seats. Getting there early did allow me to shake hands and watch the team interact with fans.

It was a sellout crowd but it's awkward turning around and taking photos of people. I hardly left my seat too. I sniped the guy with the nikon...he was behind me and to the left 3 rows.

Loving your PP Is your 70-200 F4L image stabilized by any chance? I have the non-IS version; love the quality but sometimes not being able to shoot in dimmer light is murder.

non-is. I don't see the point of IS really. I just adjust ISO and a little noise is just fine for me.

I also use off camera lighting and I'm limited to 1/250. Though I didn't use much lighting today because of having 4 subjects.

If I need between 1/200-1/250th I just up the lighting to get there and ISO. So again, IS doesn't matter too much.

I'd also pay the money for a tripod/monopod (which I have) instead of the extra cost for IS.

I agree about the IS, id rather have a faster non IS lens than a slower IS lens. I think in general it is really overated, all it really does is eliminate camera shake at lower shutter speeds, which means jack **** if you arent able to get a fast enogh shutter speed to freeze motion.

Your recent pictures are looking really good, really like the bath one. Your kid is really lucky that he is going to have so many awesome pictures from when he was a little kid. You should really frame that one.

I like to do a lot of low light still life/portraiture so I'm a huge fan of IS. I'm still only using an XSi so my ISO range is quite limited

I find that IS is only real helpful between 1/80-1/200 with a non-moving subject. I usually shoot 1/200+ because of lighting it myself, bouncing light, or just shooting in good light.

from 1/100-1/200 you can still get movement blur in which a bounced flash will freeze....IS won't.

true. that again depends on application. I do see where if I was doing weddings and I didn't want to go up above ISO 1600ish but was in 1/60-1/150th max on 100mm+ that IS would be helpful. But the times I would need weather sealing and IS are so far and in between that the premium for it seems ridiculous.
