Is wiping part of tournament paintball?

I was just thinking about this and was wondering what you guys... So is wiping part of a tourny. I mean in the pros you have thousands of dollars on the lines and you get hit in a spot where no one saw/ or even better you superman and while the air you get hit on your elbow and slide it off... do you think that is acceptable and why?

Personally i think it is terrible to cheat in a rec-ball game b/c its just for fun, but when you have thousands of dollars on the lines wiping is an advantage... i mean if you can do it better than anyone else why not???

it happens in tournaments.
so yes.

anything that happens in a tournament is part of it.

???????

its like a penalty in football such as holding. a little more severe but still its the same idea. its illegal, there is a reward for the other team if caught, but every sport has people who bend the rules if possible. In paintball it is cheater modes, and wiping

It's undeniable that wiping is a part of tournament paintball, but that doesn't make it acceptable.

in football, holding is against the rules, but would you let your QB get a 20 yard sack, or a 10 yard penalty?
same in paintball, kinda. more like playing on though. You kill 3 guys for your 2 guys...(1 for 1)

It's not something you can actually do anything about in this case. The one time I've seen this happen, no one really saw the hit because it was so fast and no evidence was left. And the player didn't really feel it because his elbow pads absorbed most of the force.

But as others have said, its part of the tournament. That's why there's rules against it. And its much easier to see it in a tournament than rec/woodsball.

Don't wipe. Maybe you'll win, maybe you'll feel good about it but you know what, no one will think you're any better of a player cos you played after you got shot out.

Pretty much nailed it right here.

You weigh your options. Is the reward worth risking the penalty for? Most of the time, it isn't. On occasion, it is. Must-win games are the most exciting for a reason, people will do anything they can to get the win.

it is absolutely a part of the game when it comes to tournaments. If you're playing walk ons then you have nothing to gain and you're ruining everyone's good day, but I totally believe in practicing and playing tournaments with hit-hiding and wiping strategies.

If u Wipe in practice you only hurt yourself and team, thats where you get better. Tournaments........ We all know how that works.

Gotta practice wiping or you're gonna get caught so easily. All about flinch control, ref manipulation, etc.

They say the best players are the best cheaters. I've heard of teams spending entire practices on how to wipe without being noticed. I think its pretty sad, but it IS part of tournament paintball. Like someone else above said, some people think its worth the penalty of getting caught to take out an opposing player. If you don't get caught, all the better.

players with this mentality absolutely disgust me.
the moment a paintball breaks on you, you are out... DONE DEAL. end of story, the other guy is better than you and that's why you just got hit.
I've been given penalties for the amount of paint I put on people that wipe.
those are the people I purposely shoot in the ear or neck as many times as I can.

Lulz at people who think that shooting someone once means you're a better player than them.

There's a certain degree of luck in this game you'd be blind to miss. Shots bouncing off bunkers, blind lanes, and flat out being in the right place at the right time.

I saw a walk-on with a cheap setup shoot a tournament player today because the tournament player shot everyone else and thought the games was over. Turns out, the walk-on was sitting in one of the dorito's and wasn't shooting. When the tournament player was standing up, the rec player shot him.

Guess that means the rec player is better huh?

Being better isnt luck. Is Joe shmo who won 50 mill in the lottery better than you because you bought a ticket too?

People who say the best players in the world are the best wipers are extremely out of touch with the reality of the highest level of paintball play.

Cheating is almost non-existent in the current PSP format. It destroys your teams chance of winning, and almost everybody gets caught. You NEVER see wiping, and those who chose to play on with hits usually cost their team a win.

Almost all penalties assessed that I saw this season were of a split second variety.

Or, players run into the problem of one ref calling them clean, and then finding out they were hit after all when they move and a new ref is looking at them. This happens a ton, because it is absolutely impossible to check yourself in most situations in a pro game.

Tim Montressor played the entire season without being assessed a penalty. He is one of the best players in the world. So, did he just CONSTANTLY get away with it, or is he just better?

Crappy players will always think better players cheat. Better players realize the difference in skill level, and adapt to compete.

I undestand u have to practice wipng.... but u also need to know how to improve in practice so u dont need to wipe as much in the tourny. If all u do in practice is wip u are not going to take the time and look at why u got hit. not trying to hate but there is a balance. if your practicing wiping fine. If you are just practiicing you need to know who got you, and how you can improve on that position.

i realize it's borderline trolling for coming into a thread with this title just because i saw you posted in it, but everything you've said so far is amazingly ignorant. ball breaks, you're out, end of story. does cheating still happen even though it's against the rules? yes. does it make for some great stories sometimes? without a doubt. does that make it right? nope. i know i'm kinda the pot calling the kettle black here, but i think it's about time you got off your high horse and stopped preaching the "the pros do it, so it must be OK" and the "win at any cost" bull****.
