how to lube a g3 bolt

my gun either has some serious issues or im an idiot

it refuses to work.
GAmedic23 and i narrowed it down to i didnt lube the bolt correctly.
we also think it might be the noid

anyways.. right now i need to lube the bolt CORRECTLY and then ill try it out on sunday at the field..

GAmedic23 said he would send me a noid if i needed one.
so i dont want to waste his noid if im just not doing a good job with the bolt.

ive got some dow 33 lube
i took a little bit of it and greased up all the orings on the bolt. then i did the back caps orings. then put the gun back together.
i screwed the tank in and it wouldnt cycle at all when i pulled the trigger..
i fiddled with the reg (increased and decreased the psi) and nothing.

i put that same tank on an ion and was able to get some shots off before i was out of air (there was about 600psi in it)

so ill know for sure on sunday if its going to work or not

but what are the tricks of the trade for lubing the bolt on the g3?

dont lube the very back oring on the backcap.

Also this might sound stupid but did you turn the eyes off?

Are you sure that the trigger is breaking the optical beam?

I recently started using DP's recommended mix of dow and oil, it works great. I no longer get anymore bolt stick.

I've been using marmalade on my gun. It's been working great for me. I'm not sure how much lube you put on, but don't be scared to put it on. Also, when I lube my bolt, I put lube on the part between the first and 2nd o-ring to make sure that the breech o-ring gets lubed. Hope this helps some.

If your reg's pressure is too high your marker will not shoot even if you turn it down. You need to degas the marker by unscrewing the reg a bit so the air escapes.

I had the same problem with mine. I used too much Gun Sav on the bolt and it would not cycle completely. After I cleaned the bolt and reajusted the regulator (with the tank on) it started to shoot.

Have you tried removing the noid and lubing it's o-rings, I had this issue And my noid was shipped dry, lubed it and shoots like a champ now.

Lube all the orings on the bolt lightly.

DONT lube the flat back oring on the backcap.

I used a scale to mix my lube. 2 grams dow33, 1 gram oil.

If your marker isn't firing I doubt it's because of lube issues though. I mean I load all three of my bolt o-rings with Sl33k (Dow33) and I even lube that back o-ring on the back cap with no problems whatsoever.

Do you hear the noid clicking at all??

Have you tried a new battery?

Stock board? aftermarket board?

If its an aftermarket board the dwell might be set to low to open the noid.

EDIT: On your reg is it the new reg seat or old??

You might have the old one and it might be messed up..which would make your pressure either crazy high or just not open.

please check this. Remove your reg and look down the opening, if you see red, you're good to go; if not call up DP.

the noid clicks and once i turn the air on it gets quiet.. still clicks but its rlly quete.. so i brought the reg out.. and released the air.. then it would click loud,, i slowly brought the pressure up until i hear it leak then seal.. once its sealed i keep bringing it up until the noid gets quite.. but im not over pressurized it because that same reg (CP REG) works on my buddys g3 just fine.

its a stock board with the dwell at 14ms

fresh battery and ive tried different ones..

the noid orings are lubed

i go to the field tomorrow so we will see if i can get it working with a full tank of air.

Try maxing out the dwell and see if that does anything.

Also when its aired up and you shoot. Does it just make a little puff puff noise?? Or is it just completely quiet? Because on my gun sometimes the bolt will stick and the gun will just let out very faint puffs of air. I have to walk on the trigger quite a bit to get it to break free and function properly.

Also if you can get some macro pics of your your board maybe i can see if the noid cable was plugged in the wrong way. Just a thought. hope you get your gun working, youll love it.

Guys, there have been many threads regarding this very issue. The G3 noid can have a tendancy to be sticky and need some breakin time. If you have a PMD, you can verify this by degassing the marker, firing the last shot off and seeing the depressurizing of the firing chamber and guage area.
The noid can "stick" in a half fired position and not be fully seated, preventing the gas to charge the firing chamber. It will be noticed by after gassing up the marker at the right regulated pressure, the PMD will still register ZERO. After firing the marker in upwards of 10-20 shots, it should break free and cycle properly and register the regulated pressure.
The PMD has to be considered something more than a cosmetic upgrade, it's actually a tool needed for troubleshooting where your having issues in the marker.
Although it is not recommended by the manufacturer, I have resolved this issue by adding 2-3 drops of marker oil to the ASA to be atomized and aid in the lubrication of the 3 way. I must remind you that this practice is an old one for older 3 ways however DP would rather recommend you lube the noid with Dow 33 or equivalent. The o-rings need a little time to break in and the spool needs adequate lube. Once broken in, no more oil is needed, just Dow 33. I hope this helps, by your discription, this seems to be the issue.

Let us know.

Brian

well should clean the noid and make sure its nice and lubed?

also should i do a 3:1 ratio of my dow 33 and planet eclipse oil on both the noid orings and the bolt orings??

I do that now even with the DP40 and have had no issues at all on both the bolt and the noid. You don't need to cake it on the noid but make sure it slides nicely inside the housing. As far as the bolt is concerned, a minimal coating on the front outside and back onside while keeping the back cap bumper dry is all that is needed.

good work. i'd recommend just buying the g3 parts kit from ansgear.com. brand new noid + reg seat, o-rings, eyes, etc.
