you need to really clean the eyes really good with q-tip and alcohol. just because you wipe them doesnt mean that its clean.

You could just be smearing the oil over the lens causing it to malfunction. If nothing suggested by anyone helps then there is a chance your eyes are shot.

It has nothing to do with how clean they are. Even wiped is sufficient. The eyes can be tweeked out of allignment if the covers are overtightened and the frame tightened after that. Check the eyes out of the body first to ensure they are still functioning then upon reassembly, snug down the body/frame bolts first with covers in place then the covers. Then check the eyes. Sometimes it may take some tweeking. The eye's most likely are slightly missalligned.

Another thing that i do is use a cellphone camera. Most cell phone camera's can see IR light, the same light your G3's Eyes use or even a TV remote control. Test your cellphone's camera (many webcams, and camcorders also lack a IR filter so they can be used also) buy looking at your remote controls IR LED and hold down a button while looking at it with your cellphone's camera. If you see a red light you're good to go. Now hook up your eyes and turn on your marker and look at the eyes with your camera and see if there's a purple or red light coming from them. That'll tell you if your eyes are broke or if their just misaligned.

If you watch this video of mine you can see the purple light coming from the optical trigger switch on the G3 which is the same technology used for your eyes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PZO0qhXJIrI
