Heres the thing... some of us actually like having INTELLIGENT debates and conversation about sports. Something that is extremely hard to do here since the random idiots of ST always appear and post the most worthless bull****. Some of us want to talk about sports and have an actual conversation that has intelligence, not retards saying things like they read about it all summer...

The problem with the spinoff forums is a lack of activity. I doubt this will be the exception.

Hey,

Did any of you watch ESPNs 30/30 documentary: What Killed The USFL? It was on earlier tonight. I DVRd it and just watched it. It was really good.

I completely forgot the overall effect it had on the NFL. I had forgotten that they signed the Heisman Trophy winner all 3 years they were playing. They had some great players. The year after the USFL folded, 15 of their players played in the NFL Pro Bowl. That's huge.

Here are some of the names from the USFL: Steve Young, Jim Kelly, Doug Williams, Doug Flutie, Hercial Walker, Reggie White, Joe Cribbs, Steve Spurrier, Rick Nuhiesal, Brian Sipe....

The USFL invented instant replay and challenges. They had a 2 pt play before the NFL did. And they allowed their players to have fun. There were some great celebration dances.

Steve Young and Jim Kelly played against each other in one game where they had over 1000 yards of passing offense combined. Young in an interview said that they have 7 Superbowls between them, but then they see each other they talk about playing in the USFL.

It was a really interesting show.

Reggie Collier, one of USM's best QB's, played in the USFL also. Turned down a big contract with the Cowboys to play there.

First QB to ever reach 1000/1000 in the same season. Vince Young/Michael Vick before they were even in junior high probably.

But I mean they have fairly good hotel prices because they plan to get you on the gambling. They have to make a good amount of their profit from gambling.

no this was filmed before the economy went real bad.

people are more into entertainment now. The 60minutes focused on Cirque de Soleil, and how they invested a **** load of money in las vegas to put on shows, and are hitting it huge

Oh... and to the guys wanting to start your own forum... I've seen a lot of those over the years. They all fail for the same reason. The things that you think you hate about this place are actually the exact things keep you coming back here and will kill the new forum.

1. We hate all these idiots that post here, yadda, yadda... The truth is, they provide the entertainment here. If it wasn't for the occasional idiot that stumbles in here to rile things up, we'd all get pretty bored telling the same stories over and over. And admit it, you guys love to trash the new guys.

2. We're tired of all the stupid rules here, yadda yadda... But then the new forum goes to hell in a handbasket because without rules and some sense or order, things just don't work. You can't keep a thread on topic with 10 people without some guidelines. Try running a site with half a million members and you'll better understand why we have the rules we have. They may sometimes seem oppressive on an individual basis, but as a staff, we don't have the time to judge every person's intent in every post on an individual basis. You just can't govern half a million people that way. But without rules, all it will take will be 1 or 2 people to completely ruin a forum if they decide to do so. And once you make rules to stop it, well, then you have exactly what you complained about here.

Sorry for the rant. That's all I'm gonna say about that.

Both of your points are valid. I've been discussing starting up a sports website with my dad for around a year now though, started as an intended forum for sharing betting info and games discussion. Then I saw there was some interest here and I figured why not include some PBN people.

I don't mind the rules, and I generally don't have any run-ins with them at PBN. And as far as the idiots go, I expect the new forum to have them as well, if it grows as I intend it to. I really don't have any animosity or disdain for PBN, quite the opposite actually. I just see the potential for a good opportunity to create another positive forum experience.
