We could simply use their 5-man rule book, and a ton of issues and questions that arise every event could be removed.
Such as:
Layering rules
Jersey tuck in rules
What counts as a one for one, two for one, etc...

Not picking on Storm, but as an example, their L1 team is having success at the D1 level nationally. Maybe their D1 status would be a cut off point for L2. Storm Silver now under the current system has to bump up to L1.... My whole goal is to get some discussion going about this topic.

I agree with Buck on the rules.
As for the L1/L2 deal, I know some of the current L2 teams don't want to bump to L1, but it kinda seems like an even bigger jump from L3/L4 to L2. We're bumping from L4 to L2, so we're D4 at best and will be playing D2 teams according to 1w00d that have national experience?!
Has anyone ever suggested making L3 5-man and having L4 as the only 3-man option? If L3 was 5-man, you could split up L1 & L2 and maybe get a few more teams out that don't want to waste their money getting blown up by L2 teams.
How bout:
L1 = D1/Semi, L2 event/series winner
L2 = D2/D3?, L3 event/series winner
L3 = D3/D4/D5, 4+ tournys played, L4 event/series winner
L4 = <4 tournys played
And the APPA ranking is LOL! Based purely on the APPA ranking, it looks like about half the L2 players at MPS#5 could have played L4!?

Guys, playing L2 is about as nice an intro into 5-man as you will find.
Diluting the playing pool in L2 will cause what happened to L1 to happen to L2...

PSP Rules!!
as far as field layouts the worst one was pcoc was by far the worst, DZ had to do what they had to to. they didnt like it and we didnt, but we would still be playing that event if they didnt make 2 fields. DZ is always a good field!

I dont know that some of the complaints I hear about DZ can be valid.
Yes the field was small and cow patty's stink (literally). but besides that it was a great event, just need better weather next time.

The thing about the first event, Choctaw, and the event Mayhem reffed is this:
We need to play on legitimate 5 man fields.
I went to every PSP this season, and it pisses me off watching guys who consistently succeed in the MPS fail miserably on the national stage. Plain and simple, they aren't prepared at all after playing the horrible layouts we show up and play at these events. It makes a huge difference.
Outside of that, I seriously find the layouts of these events kind of embarrassing for the league. It is pretty tough to market the pictures we get at events, and even harder to make it exciting and interesting for prospective teams.

too bad MPS can't afford to buy a field and just set it up at the different venues - maybe the series could rent someones PSP field for the events?

What about this.
L1/L2 changes to an open 5man division.
L3 changes to L3 5man.
L4 is the only 3man but take away the battery limit.

If you are ever wanting to compete on any level in 5-man, then MPS L2 is by far the easiest introduction you are going to get. Come on guys...

have pb ridge and who ever else wants to step up hold the events. i am sure that paintball ridge dont have a problem with taking people paint money. maybe only have it with fields that can produce results. make the layouts be the current psp layout.

I don't think it would have to be current psp field to be a nice field. It should have to be a layout that has been used at a large event at some point. They should have to be a gridded field also. That way you won't have the people setting up the field just throwing bunkers around putting a mirror on the other side.

George,
How about offering a discount for payment in full for all 5 events in advance of Event #1 Deadline?

That is a good idea.
I know some teams would take advantage of that discount if it were made available.
