I think it's time this is cleared...

Just because .50 is available does not mean that PSP and USPL/NPPL are going to throw out .68 and make everybody switch. It's litteraly a matter of preference. In fact, start thinking about .50 as an upgrade option for your gun.

The most common complaint going around right now is that many players here feel that now they have to go buy all new guns and that their previous gun is now obselete. Paint companies, National Events, nor gun companies have any motif to toss .68 out the door. In fact, their is no reason you can't play both with .50 and .68 in the same tournament.

I hope that if there are any logical arguments why .50 caliber is such a bad thing, please speak out here.

And for the record, I don't like a lot of change in my life either, but this doesn't look half bad at all.

my opinion is that if the rest of the world such as europe, asia, canada and others decide to change the usa should change so we can have the whole inustry in the same page.. we dont need another metric system yard system like we already have.

I think tournaments allowing both .50 and .68 will be retarded. With a hopper of 400 balls you can hold a lane twice as long as someone with 200 balls.

So then man up and buy a .50 cal gun. It's your choice! If you wanna shoot .68 and maybe be at a disadvantage, that's your choice. If not, buy a .50 cal.

And the back players with the .68 cal balls will be out ranging the .50's.

One possible situation I could see is teams doing a partial switch. Some players with the big balls for range, some with the tiny balls for capacity, and maybe even a player or two with smaller low profile tiny ball hoppers (200 rounds of small balls for example) for better maneuverability.

And you figured this out how? Hmm, GI milsim says they go farther, you say that .68 goes farther. I think I'll trust Mr. Italia over you.

so what? do we ban the pinokio nose cone? NOPE... it's called freedom of choice, do you wanna shoot a .68? then do it... if you don't like the benefits of a .50 cal round, simply don't buy them.

Think about what you just said....a smaller ball will go further
ok
a smaller ball will have the same amount of energy (hence it went further) to dissipate over far less area...ie way more stress
..pain...masks...is your mask rated for more stress any of your gear?

Well right now better range is one of the advantages they are preaching about 50cal. I could see back players loading up on 50cal is the statements of range are true. Plus can you imagine a victory with a possible 50cal conversion. Thats around 3600 rounds off a 68/4500.

The only weight info released so far (admittedly not the final paint formula, still waiting for that data) had the paint being a hair LESS dense. So far no actual indication of an increase in density (only speculation) to overcome the loss of inertia due to loss of mass. So less range. Present indications are that it will act like every other smaller caliber ball ever released...thus less range.

The "I" in G.I. Milsim might know a few things, but the "G" tends to make exaggerated claims that don't stand up to scrutiny.

I never thought of it this way. It could totally give the game new dimensions.
kinda the same thing like why would a QB wear the pads of a lineman.

Lol, with the right loader, a frontman would not have to take a pack out. I just thought, a pinokio could hold like half a case...

think of it as buying a hybrid car, your doing it for more efficiency to save money, and to help the environment...

50 call paintball, or pb 2.0 is like the same thing. paintball is big. we arent being forced to convert. but people will soon realize you can save some money buy purchasing a little kit instead of a whole gun; its innovation. wait and see.

Why not have a tournament run two different "divisions" with marker restrictions:
The one we're all familiar with
.68 markers and (specific) hoppers
-and-
a slightly cheaper one with
.50 markers (retro-fitted included) and .50 hoppers.
I mean there is already certain equipment restrictions in PSP, etc. so why not take that a step further with the .50cal paint. and make a 'seperate but equal' and cheaper tournament scene.
Just my 2cents :p

If they wanted to do that they'd already have Pump and Mech divisions, both of which would be cheaper to play.

True but compared to the tourney scene how many people want to play mech and pump tournaments. Barring the $ factor and strictly based on play preference

There's no separation in the G and I there. It's solely owned by Mr. Italia.

And EVERY company makes ridiculous claims, and over hypes there new products.

He might have his name on top of all the papers, but the Gardners have waaaay to much influence to not be taken into consideration.

Don't worry, Fuby, you aren't alone in here.

The fact that the Gardners have a hand in it at all makes me a bit suspicious, nevermind the numbers and science that can't be proven until the stuff is actually released. So again like the First Strike rounds and many things before them, I'll reserve judgement until I can shoot these side by side against what we already have.
