Tippmann A-5 SVD Dragunov

Hi guys,

This is my latest project so far, SVD Dragunov, after reading tons of material of the Dragunov paintball mod I decided to attack the idea of building one using all the techniques that others have been using, and this is what I came up, please, let me know what do you think about this baby monster:

how much did all the aftermarket parts cost,

ie stock, front grip, scope and mounts

It came together awsome but you need to clean up the parts a bit, like add some paint to the scope mount and some parts of the gun.

overall i would say an 8 out of ten ive seen a couple of better ones, but clean it up and id give it a ten.

Nice gun Im just a critic

I like it, but then again, I've seen better. But all in all, it's pretty good.

I don't doubt your asseverations. But, I am really curious to know where you have seen better SVD Dragunov mods?

I appreciate your criticisms this help me to produce a flawless mod, I strive for perfection, thanks guys

Now, looking into this mod itself, what really I don't like and some others point it out, was the fact the magazine does not flash perfectly with the receiver. Also, it is still possible to identify the H&K plastic trigger guard of an A-5 in this mod. In addition, the transition between the stock and the trigger housing is well noticeable; the hideous used of electrical tape in certain areas and the lack of paint give this mod the appearance of un-cleanness.

I had these problems already delineated, and if you notice closely, there are is a line running along the length of the magazine (left-to-right), this line marks the location where the receiver will end and the magazine after being inserted in the receiver begins. I will make a cut along that line and I will attach the magazine to the receiver. Also, a real SVD trigger guard and magazine latch will replace the H&K plastic trigger guard. This detail will hold the magazine in place, and will help in the overall appearance of the mod, shown in the picture below.

After these two issues are resolved, I will use car putty (it can be mold, sand and paint) around the trigger housing-stock to eliminate the abrupt transition between trigger guard and stock. All traces of electrical tape will be eliminated, and finally I will paint it

Saiga Stock = $70.00
SVD Hand guards = $100.00
POSP 24x4M = $150.00
SVD mount rail = $8.00

I which I could paint the rail, but as soon as I put the scope, the paint will come off. Besides, this SVD mount rail has very small tolerances, and any small obstructions like paint would make impossible to mount the scope

Sure, so long as the mods don't have a problem with me posting it here in the Tippmann forum.

Beautiful!, I love how clean it is, which is my goal with the A-5. Also, I love the rubber sight for the scope. However, I can see the stock and hand guards are not real wood, are they from an airsoft gun? What type of marker is this?

Can you tell me how you made it? Where did you get the magazine? etc... if you don't want to post it you can send it to my e-mail address, thanks!

Actually it is wood. I know it doesn't look like wood now, that's because all the wood parts are coated with epoxy resin.

Here's an earlier pic:

All the parts, except the marker itself of course, were hand made by me. Airsoft parts would have greatly simplified the process but replica airsoft guns are illegal in Canada so I was on my own.

I think yours looks great, one of the best I've seen bro.

Well, the first SVD is a Modern version of the Russian SVD, meaning, it has polymer stock and hand guards and is used by the Russian Army, the second SVD made by ROBERTSEAKYKR is a classic version of the SVD, meaning the stock and the hand guard are made of wood, this version of the SVD is used in third world countries like Iraq and other Arabic countries, Africa and South East of Asia
