So first and foremost I am not posting this to “try and get back” at gruntbull for wrecking my NYX Matrix I am simply posting this to inform people of my experience with Gruntbull Anodizing.
I will start off with the back story, I had my Dragon Intimidator anodized by gruntbull just over 2 years ago and was very happy with the results. When at the field people would ask where I got it anodized I told them it was done by Gruntbull anodizing. My NYX Matrix was always a backup to my Dragon, so when I had some extra money I decided to put it into the NYX. I sent it in to **Entropy** for milling to have the Ultralite milled out to bolt onto the body.
When it came to getting it anodized I didn’t even have to think about who I was going to have do the work as I had a great experience with gruntbull in the past. So I got the NYX all packaged up and sent it out.
5 weeks go by and nothing from Gruntbull, I e-mailed them up asking what the progress was and didn’t get a response. A few days go by and I decided to check out PBNation to see if anyone else was having problems contacting them. That’s when I started to see that there was a problem when I read tipp98chopshop thread. So I slept on it and the next day I e-mailed Gruntbull up and asked them to send back my NYX and give me a refund.
Within 12hrs I received an e-mail back saying that my NYX was done the night before and it would be shipped out on Saturday. I informed them that I was concerned about it as I have had the NYX since they first came out with the toxic breeches and I had a lot of sentimental value for it. I was told everything was fine and I would be very happy with it.
About 2 and a half weeks go by and I receive a delivery notice from the post office. I go it to pick it up and I find out that I have to pay $69 customs charges because Gruntbull put the wrong value on the package.
I was quick to open up the package as I was very excited to see it, like a 9 year old on Christmas. When I opened up the body I was speechless, there was a hole in the body. I basically didn’t even know what to say, than I started to look at the fade and was just appalled at to what Gruntbull has done to my NYX.
The fade looked very sloppy and unprofessional, like if you turn it on its side the black looks like it “mountains” over top the blue, very inconsistent. I got the exact same fade as I did on my dragon, so I am measuring the fade as compared to my Dragon.
I was quick to e-mail gruntbull asking what have you done to my NYX? I got an e-mail back stating that it was an old marker and there was pitting to I am stuck with it. Than there was a week or so of bickering and pointing fingers before I got a phone call and e-mail from Todd. He basically said he wants to make things right and offered me $100 for a new body and 15% off my next visit with them. Than there was more bickering on my end because I was very unhappy with the service they left me stuck with. Todd told me that $100 for a body is fair and that’s his offer. I told his to send the $100 and I was very unhappy with what he had left me with.
Within 12hrs I received $99 back in my paypal from them, ($95.83 after paypal fees).
Now I am not trying to make this look completely one sided, my NYX had a big scratch in it on one side and Gruntbull did a fantastic job of buffing that scratch out. The scratch was on the same side as the hole but was about 2inchs away from where the hole is.
Again I am not making this post as a “try and get back” at gruntbull for wrecking my NYX Matrix I am simply posting this to inform people of my experience with Gruntbull Anodizing.
Heres some pics I took:
