Is that used or new?
Whats do you intend to do once you get your equipment? What style of music do you plan on starting to play? Are you attempting to play in a band or with other guitarists? Help us help you by narrowing it down a little.

Epiphone makes awesome stuff. Don't forget that it has Gibson's name on it, and Gibson wouldn't sell a POS.
If you got that guitar though, you'd have very little left for an amp. Save a little more and get a decent amp.
But what time of music do you want to play? An SG is going to have a bit of a crunch/muddy sound to it.

Yeah I want to play in a band. Mostly metal and punk ( not Good Charlet) I don't care I can't spell it right I HATE them. I like the crunch of the Les Paul and The SG'S. Thanks For the Help guys.
EDIT: Anybody got any Marshal amps for 70 80 bucks of know where I can get one.

i dont think you can even get a 15watt marshall for that much. you also dont need to forget about effects and a good tuner. but yeah the sg wouldnt be a bad choice.

You have any particular wants in an amp. I dont own anything thats not 100% tube driven. No hybrids, pure tube. Thats my prefference. But tube amps run $$$$$$'s. Im presuming thisis just to practice with? Check out musicians friend or better yet go to your local shop and look for a small used amp in good condition. Sometimes you can score one for like 40-50 bux. Happy hunting.

I agree, I just wish I had the discipline to stick with it. Wise approach.

ive been playing for 7 years now, i regret wanting to play like van halen then taking classical and realizing how much harder it is than electric. Plus reading the actual music is so much easier than tabs.

If u have 230 to spend on guitar and amp, i would consider saving up until you can afford a semi decent amp. It makes all the differnece when ur guitar doesnt sound like ****.
The fender frontman generally a pretty good amp, its pretty clear. That what i was going to recommend you buy, buy you wouldnt have enough money for a semi decent guitar anyways.

They have the Squire(made by Fender) Strat Pack you can find for around that price.
Comes with bag, cheapo Amp, tuner, strap, cable, strings, picks, and a book.
Not bad to start off with.
