how do you cut macro?
hey guys, never really used macro, its either been steel braided autococker, or hoseless (mini ), however i now have a G3 that needs new macro. I already ordered the correct macro type (HP) but i have no idea howto cut it, i tried to practice on my old macro with scissors but it was very hard heavy duty stuff, so whats the most effective and clean way to cut it?

I just use a knife; put my hand on the dull side of the blade and push down.
or I use a meat cleaver with the same technique

I haven't had any luck with anything that crimps to cut like scissors even big heavy duty ones or shears so I never tried wire cutters. It always squeezed the end too much and that would make it leak. I once went through 2 entire pieces of macro just to get a 4 inch piece cause I couldn't get the cut flat enough
The best way I've found to do it is to have a cut that is as flat and straight as possible. I used a utility knife for mine and that seamed to be a lot easier then my box cutter cause it's a much thicker stronger blade

Exacto knife or box cutter. Just make sure you cut the macroline cleanly. If it is rigid and poorly cut it may cause leaks.
Just a word of advice, cut longer than you need and work your way down.

Hi pbman657v.2,
I think a utility knife will be more efficient due to its sharp blade if you cut it straight and flat. No need of box cutters or wire cutters.

Wire cutters, unless extremely sharp will pinch the hose and put a crimp in it that you will need to work out so it fits the macro correctly and doesnt restrict the air flow.
Boxknife FTW.

those all pinch the macro.
You need something sharp and will cut from one side.

ANY OF THE ABOVE WILL WORK GREAT, EXACTO KNIFE IS VERY PRECISE, BOX CUTTER IS GOOD, BUT I THINK DEFINITELY A GOOD SHARP PAIR OF WIRE CUTTING PLIERS IS ALWAYS BEST, make sure to make a clean fast cut though b/c if you don't it will kink the line opening and make the fit off a little
