Not a regulator, it's an anti-siphon bonnet. It works but not as well as using HPA.

I wouldn't run co2 on a vibe either. You will still need an anti siphon tube or it may cause a lot of problems. I wouldn't run an Ion or Vibe on co2 unless you have a palmers stabilizer and anti siphon tube.

It might be able to but I promise it won't like it. If you must use regular co2 I would get a e-griped A5 or something.

Vibe has a special regulator that vents off CO2 when liquid begins to enter or it gets to cold or something like that. It still is safe to use CO2 with though, however HPa has many advantages over CO2, if you plan on staying in this sport for a while then I recommend getting a quality HPA tank and hopper to go with it, that way you won't have to get one down the line.

Cool. I just am planning to get a gun better than my Spyder Sonix and figured a speedball type gun would be more versatile. How are a5s when talking about speedball?
I may be able to fill a HPA tank at a local scuba shop and I also may start playing again with some guys on their property that have a scuba tank so I may get just a basic 48/3000.

A5's are in no way shape or form meant for speedball.

I played speedball with an a5 once, my ion chopped in the breach and was done for the day before I even left the chrono.
It was totally priceless to bunker some fool with an ego and a rotor, when I had an a5 with an 18" barrel Which for the record, made the gun hideously inaccurate. It was a fun day but I didn't do too good

Palmers Stabilizer, the hands down best reg for c02 usage.

haha... yeah it seems like it would be an ackward speedball gun. I don't play strictly one or the other so i want to get something that will give me something more than a mech spyder, is versatile, and can use c02 preferably.

You can play speedball with a a5. I used to play speedball with a mech right feed 99 cocker all the time. So you can use a a5, it just isn't the greatest.

CO2:Cheap, Dirty, Hard on any seal, Inconsistent
HPA:More expensive (initially, fills are about the same), clean, very consistent.
I highly recommend HPA to every newer player on the field. It will not only be nicer to your gun (which in turn will be nicer to you), but it will actually improve your accuracy to switch to an HPA tank. Paintballs leaving the barrel at +-20 fps will have a much larger vertical spread on a target than paintballs leaving the barrel with a +-3 fps spread. I didn't use HPA on my tippmann while it was my primary marker, but I went back and tried it once and it even changed the firing characteristics of the gun. It would probably even make your sonix shoot more nicely.
Suggestion: Get a tank with an HP output (output between 800-950 psi). That way it will be the most compatible with all your guns. Most of my tanks are HP, it doesn't affect my consistency or the "wear and tear" on my regs at all, as some people may tell you. It's really negligible with a dual regulated system, which is what an Ion would be, and you need about 850psi output to use it with a spyder. Honestly, I'd upgrade my tank before I upgraded my gun, and soon after the gun would come a new barrel (CP's one pieces are great at $30, there's a lot of good barrels out there around that price).

the vibe's reg has that thing in the reg that releases through a valve liquid co2.
still i would just try to get hpa, but your vibe is the best bet for straight co2

LOL. Yet that's what we used to use. How times have changed.
