its ur spring inside the asa. that pushes on the pin so it closes the asa all the way even with no air

also it should be extremely easy to open and close it with no air. so if ur feeling some resistance try lubing the pin

It's not bent, it just doesn't sit all the way down the way it should. Mine does the same thing and so does my friends RAPS

thats what i'm guessing or the mold for the lever isn't formed exactly right

Try taking it apart and lubing everything. Going out on a limb with this one....but is your screw bent?

At long last here's what my ASA lever looks like one day after use. It sat flush when I installed it both gased and de-gased.

You can just make out the ripple in the metal by the "U" in the bottom picture where the bend is.. If you click on the picture once inside imageshack it will enlarge to the original picture size..

Any comments from the DP techs?

Looks like the metal has been severely stressed. That kind of malformation happens due to metal being forced to near the breaking point....

The marker was gassed up just like any other time I've gassed it up. Keep in mind I've had the marker over a year and I've been doing nothing different. An ASA should be able to be turned on or off after each game without damage considering the price point..

I agree, there is no reason that ASA shouldn't be able to be opened and closed 10000 times without failure except to an o-ring.

That kind of stress would be put on during a de-gas. Did you notice any extreme difficulty in moving the lever into de-gas? The little pin/piston should not have NEARLY the strength to overpower that lever!

I have a G3 RAPS whose lever looks identical to this.

I only gas/degas at the beginning and end of the day and never did any twisting, banging, falling on, or otherwise harm the gun. I think the lever+cam just causes enough leverage to bend the aluminum. Most likely a flawed design. DP replaced mine for free, but I don't know if they'd still do that.

I dont think this was ever an issue on the original RAPS.

The guys at DP are sending my a replacement ASA lever at no cost without any questions asked. All they ask is that I mail them the bent one so they can have a look at it.

Can't beat that kind of customer service eh?

I was very surprised at seeing that picture. I can't imagine how that happened unless an oring was pinched and extreme force was needed to unlock the lever to degass the marker.

I've heard of only a couple other levers that people thought were bend but just ended up being a tolerance issue or an assembly problem. This is the first I've seen where you can actually see a crease. Weird..

I checked the o-rings on the ASA when I noticed the bend to see if that was causing it, everything is intact with the unit.

Weird is right..
