HP or LP Tank?

Looked in the stickies and couldnt find an answer

Im about to purchase a new tank. Do the mini's work better with a LP or HP tank? Or does it even matter?

Thanks for any help.

lp is recommended in the manual, but hp tanks do work with the mini. hp tanks can be used on more different guns aswell.

You must not have looked very hard; It's all over these forums as well as your manual. The mini will work just fine on either HP or LP; The only difference you will notice between the two is that it is hard to screw on/off the tank while it is pressurized. The LP will be much easier on you and on the threads versus an HP. Either will work fine though.

i just picked up a mini and use hp tanks, looked around and did some research and purchased a on and off valve and waiting on that. with the hp tank it feels as tho you are messing up the threads.. but it still works.

my son uses a ga 48/45 on his mini and it works great but that would be a mid pressure tank

You have received your information. The gun will work just fine on either, the only difference is the ease/difficulty of unscrewing your tank. There are no other answers; Aside from the Guerrilla air tanks and their fluctuating out put pressure causing the gun velocity to rise at lower tank pressures.

Why the formatting for a question?

If you are really worried about it, get an adjustable regulator and if you don't like HP, then switch it to LP. The difference between the two are very minimal and you probably won't really notice it all that much. It doesn't take much man-strength to screw the tank on.

No problem at all. Welcome to the forums, by the way.

If you haven't yet purchased a tank & reg, Ninja's regs can be set to 450, 650 or 850.

I'm using a high pressure tank on my mini. It doesn't matter which you use because the pressure will get regulated through the gun so there is no need to worry about damaging the gun, except maybe the threads in the ASA but an on/off or even some lubricant will fix that.

Guy at my local paintball shop suggestes using a HP tank. As others have said, the manual suggests LP, but It is fine to use HP. HP can give a little better accuracy due to more pressure driving the bolt. One thing that is a must for mini is the thread saver on / off. Don't ever unscrew a pressurized tank from a reg. You can damage the threads over time very quickly.

No, the regulator on the gun takes the pressure going into the gun to the same pressure whether it is coming from a high pressure or a low pressure tank. By that logic, we should all just turn our velocity up to 500 feet per second and it would be as accurate as a bullet.

I've been doing it for over two years with my gun and have damaged them very little. You will be just fine doing this as long as you are not excessively brutal with the tank while removing it.

Wrong. By the time the air hits the bolt, regardless of whether you're using an HP or LP tank, the pressure on it would be exactly the same....~200psi. You know, the numbers that you read on the regulator gauge.

Like everyone else has said. It won't matter if you use HP or LP.
