Well see, there's the problem. You guys aren't open to playing different layouts. A good player takes the layout he's given and works with it.

No, ALL players take the layout they're given and work with it. You kinda have to if you want to play the event

As far as that millenium layout goes, I actually kind of like it. I only have two complaints:
1. The two cans are too close to the deadbox, make them farther out and wider apart (or just take one away completely).
2. What's with the wheel of cheese on the D-side 50? Would prefer something a little more routine and playable, i.e. a carwash.

It looks like a slow field. I can see games lasting a while on it.

Well, with low bunkers in the center, it will open up a lot of cross-field vision and shots. They're also a bit center-heavy, so a sneaky player could make it through fairly easily depending on the opposing breakout.

Exactly, it looks like a sit and shoot war, you have to win gun fights.

I didn't care for a lot of the 08/09 PSP layouts. I hated Chicago 09. The d side was alright, but snake was weird, and not a fun weird.

I'm so happy cup layout is as it is this year.

In my experience, folks who complain about gun fighting... can't. Obviously, I'm not suggesting you're one of them, but you might want to consider improving your skills if you're playing tournaments anyway. Counting on catching everyone unawares or in a run-through is just lazy.

I've yet to hear any pro or coach suggest relying on your gunfighting skills to win a game.

Gunfighting is 50/50 and often times the outcome is based on luck. Not something that should be a large part of your game's strategy.

Strategy or not, if you can't do it, get better or get out.

Oh, and tell Russian Legion that gunbattling is 50/50...

Well what is it then? You either win, or you lose. If you lose, there is no back-up plan, you walk off the field.

If you actually go out with a strategy, you can plan on losing bodies ahead of time and actually map out what to do when **** goes wrong. If all you plan doing is gun battling, who knows wtf is going to happen?

I would gladly tell RL gun battling is 50/50, but they already know that. Just because they're good at something doesn't mean that's all they go out and do.

I don't recall saying that's all anyone had to do. I have been suggesting that if a player intends to play a upper-eschelon tournament like the Millenium series, they should probably know how to shoot a guy without running up on him.

A strategy is nice, but without the skills to back it up (or fall back on in this case) it can prove entirely worthless.

Ok...? I'm not really sure why you're suggesting that people know how to snap-shoot haha, I think everyone who plans on playing any of these layouts already knows that's part of the gig.

Except of course for Ultimate, who skipped that part and their seasons ended accordingly.

Well, I certainly won't try to defend that team, though I think they just went into it a bit psyched out.

I recently worked on one of their team 05 Black Magics... strange problems with that thing. I'm inclined to believe their guns might just have had something to do with it.

I liked the '05 BM's, one of the cooler looking cockers you can get for your money IMO, and a HUGE step up from the epiphanies they were shooting at one point (not sure if that was before or after the BM?)

No matter what field you're playing or who you're playing against, if your guns don't work, you won't win. Just another reason why I don't like seeing the large/slow fields. I use Matrices and shockers, and rarely do I ever get more than 5 or 6 pods off a full 68/45 tank, despite what they're advertised to get.
