Front player drills?

Nation,

Looking for some drills to run WITHOUT a field. stuff I can do myself
I'm going to be playing front in xball so any tips would be good.

Also, the NEXL website has a broken link to the field layout. does anyone have a link or the layout itself?

Yeah, in your backyard or wherever put 2 stakes a good distance apart from eachother. Start at one, in your head count 3, 2, 1, 10 seconds. And sprint as fast as you can as if in a game to the other stake. Once you get there wait 5-15 seconds (shorter the better) sprint halfway to the other stake and crawl or do some other greatly used paintball movement the rest of the way...

Once you get back to the starting stake do it over untill you need a rest, rest for a few minutes and repeat. Do this about 5-10 times a day and as you start to feel comfortable add more reps....

Really anything that will work on your speed will help you play better as a front player.. Try jogging and every 5 minutes or so sprint for 15 seconds and go back to a steady jog...

Also make your legs stronger by doing leg presses (if you have access to a gym).

^ if your really serious about it, train like you would for any other sport.

And don't waste your time doing leg presses, if you're going to work your legs with weights do real squats, work all your leg muscles.

And some of the time end your wind sprints with slides. Don't slide a TON as you can abuse yourself, but some of the time sure.

if you have a tredmill, then put on all your gear as if you were playing, fill up your pods and hopper and run on the tredmill.

sui-slides
....play in suicides lol

suicides but with your gun up like your running and gunning and when you make it to a line ( you could use some cones or whatever you have in ur house lol ) slide pop up and repeat

maybe as a front player specific you could do the same but a superman instead of a slide

idk just an idea

get an egg timer, put on all your gear, go to your back yard, put your gun on the "dead box" set your egg timer for 10 seconds, throw it pretty far, once it goes off sprint at it as fast and as hard as you can, grab it then jog back to the dead box.

practice snapping from every position imaginable. standing crouching and on your knees like if you were in the snake, or just as tight and low you can get.

run, all the time, to your car from work, school, when youre done shopping, to your door.

climb a **** ton of stairs till your legs feel like jello.

do a heck of a lot of pushups, it helps when it comes to holding your gun tight for a long time.

sit ups, bicycles, itl help build strong consistant snappy abs

and any other cardio vascular exercise will build endurance that you can think of.

and if you like any other sports play them when you arent playing paintball, i like basketball.

Sprints with a weighted vest / Backpack / Weights in your hand

Theres are football drill where you run in place very quickly then drop to the ground in a push up position then continue running/stomping in place. Forgot the exact name

Pushups I wouldnt worry 2 much about unless your really weak in that area or young.

Snap shooting in your backyard pick a target have a trash can as your "bunker"

With your gun setup run and gun in different directions with different hands. Do it first without any air, then with air and just dryfiring.

You can do the Virtue Board drill where you have your gun down then with a timer or some sort of alarm or even a friend yelling "go!" bring your gun up and fire off ten rounds (can be used without paint or air). Just getting that motion and speed down really helps.

This is called intervals. It works very well. Run then jog then run. It's very hard depending on how hard you want the work to be but it really helps. Any cardiovascular training will help. Jogging or whatever. You will be moving quickly for a while and constantly stopping.

One of the most important things when your doing these drills is to have your gear on. Your mask will limit your breathing, your pack will weigh you down and your pants/jersey will limit your bodies cooling. Get used to this.

i know with my team we'll wear weight vests plus our gear and run to the 50 with people putting lanes on us. and now we make out bunkers about 90% of the time running or running and shooting but ik it helps us. so like try doing that around home with something about equal distance to that or something

this could help in building your leg muscles, its something my basketball team does, it's a program called "Air Alert" it helps but we do it to get a better vertical but in the same way it builds your leg muscles, i did it last year and over about four weeks i gained a 7 inch vertical and overall i gained a 10 inch vertical, im 6'1 and i can dunk it.. schools started back up and were doing it again and idk how much ill gain this time. but even though it focuses on your vertical it stills builds your leg muscles

just saying but you have to buy the dvd, or you may could youtube it...not sure...maybe this helps

Run not for speed but for stamina. Try doing long distance running. Add a little more each day. If you work this into your everyday routine I gaurentee that at the end of the day you will still be making snake.

That running on a treadmill with all your gear is really funny to picture lol. For a drill you can just put up some random thing as a bunker to go behind and a target in front of it and pratice snapshooting out of the bunker.

Both speed AND stamina are important.

Explosive speed means leg workouts and sprints... this is what will get you faster speed.

Stamina means HIIT and long term cardio (running, biking, swimming, etc.)... this is what will make sure you're still going strong on later points and games.

You can't neglect one, you need both.
