As far as cymbols go, if you like to hit things really hard, don't buy zildjian ZBT's. I bought a set of those (Ride, hi-hats, crash) and after less than a year, my hi-hats were destroyed, and I cracked one crash, and totaly demolished another one. Just a though....

What type of music are you planning on playing? I used to have a pearl session kit, but I have recently switched over to a five peice Ayotte. DW makes a great kit as well.

ayotte and DW do make sweet sets, as does OCDP, but he wants a begginer set, i say look at tama, peal, pacific, gretsch, and ludwig. theres so many different brands and woods and sizes out there its hard to decide. as for cymbals i say go with sabian pro sonix, or paiste, in all my expierence with zildjian ive found that unless ure willing to pay top dollar your not going to get quality or decent sound. ooooo yea one last thing, remo smooth white is the best head ever
