i'm thinking of starting a hip hop-oriented jam band

does anyone think this sort of thing is possible/marketable

I'm kind of envisioning a guitar player, bassist, drummer, maybe a keys player, and a dj rhythm section and then a singer and a few emcees

basically, we play live instrumented hip-hop covers and are completely inclined toward lengthy instrumental improvisation or freestyling

robert randolph with rapping might be a sort of accurate picture

it'd be badass if it worked like i think it might, but it probably can't

plus i know pretty much no like-minded musicians who would go for an idea like that

it'd be marketable so long as you people were good.

Which is to say, you're going to ****ing fail hard because you're a talentless nobody

It actually sounds pretty fun. I'd be down for it if someone brought it up. I'm thinking something like Rage but less heavier and more jam with a lot of Morello improv.

I've stopped actively bashing the music on a regular basis, but I still don't remotely like it. Nor can I stand to listen to it.

I was also mocking you.

Umphrey's McGee does this occasionally, it's mostly to be funny, but it's pretty cool too.

My friends and I are actually starting a band like this right now. We have a DJ, a few emcees, a poet, drums, bass and 2 guitars.
