I think it's just some gain and being a little violent with the bar

I can't make that noise with any consistency, though

currently studying this to figure it out

I thought it was like just springing the bar really hard, but I can't do that on my Bigsby, and I don't trust myself enough to do it to someone's guitar with a better trem on it.

I've heard some players refer to it as a "tiger claw". If you turn your trem bar facing the opposite direction, pull back on it, and just flick your hand off, it just vibrates the whole trem. You can do it with the trem facing the normal way, too. Just brush your hand off of it while applying firm pressure. Pretty easy!

Yeah, I kinda figured that's how it worked. I don't have a guitar with a normal trem on it to try it out right now though.

He is awesome, but never could get into the music as much. At their level, I truly believe one can't be labeled better than the other. You just have to choose who's music you like.

Yessum. I just said it to poke fun
I don't care for either of them. Would rather not listen to their stuff at all, to be honest. Sure, they're hands move like robots at pretty much any speed, but I absolutely hate both of their music styles...

You can't put Paige and Vai in the same category, you twat. They're entirely different guitarists. And Jeff Beck is pretty equal, if not above Vai. Not to mention you have a few sheer shredders in there, that aren't even close to being in the same field as Vai.

You're biased, and have no cognitive perception towards guitar.

idk jeff doesn't usually play fast but he can play really really fast when he wants to, I'd say pretty close to Vai. His thing is much more manipulating the guitar's sound, and i've never seen anyone come close to him in that regard. But lots of guys are faster than both of them, and seriously, who cares how fast you can play? it's kinda like being the fastest grocery bagger: I don't give a damn as long as my eggs aren't smashed

obviously what makes them both great players has very little to do with how much dexterity lies in their hands

thats correct i dont care how fast you can play cause who cares its how much feeling you have in your music and if it comes from your heart if you look at steve vai play you can tell he puts his heart and soul in the music

Dawt.

Once again, jemandvai has no perception towards guitar, nor what makes a player a good player. You can't just lump all guitar players in with each other, just because one can play faster than another. That's not what makes a guitarist good.

And you're also confusing "talent" with "skill".

Why, because he makes goofy faces?

You can argue that every guitarist puts their heart and soul into their music. That doesn't suddenly negate everything else and make them better than everyone.

Vai has an amazing musical mind, and he can put tons of emotion into his songs. I can't decide between him and Satch..

im not talking about the funny faces LISTEN to his music and you can tell

and i didnt say that i like him cause he plays fast if you acctually read the post you would see what i said about speed and yes you can lump them all together by skill talent whatever you want to call it

vai plays and creates things that no other musician is doing

jeff beck uses a tremolo bar yes but that doesnt mean he beats vai

you find one guitarist that does all that steve vai you wont find one because vai is so unique

Sorry, but almost every guitarist out there puts their heart and soul in to their playing/music. You are spewing out a bunch of BS. When you have the level of skill that these guitar gods do, you can't label one better than the other. It's simply a matter of personal opinion. You can compare many of those guitarist because they all have different styles of playing and fit into different genres.
